No offense taken at all Jeff. It does really suck not having good local bars, I feel your pain. Brampton is really a sad place when it comes to beer, my old girlfriend went to College in Brampton so I know exactly where you are coming from. _________________ We can get drunker than this!! |

There used to be the Rack n' Tap, definitely the best spot in B-town while it was open _________________ "Everything ... is happening" - Bob Cole |

Bottle and tap selection remains good. Best taps in this City for sure (although that doesn't say much). You have to give the owner credit considering pretty much none of Ontario craft draft ships up here. They are picking up a lot of this themselves.
Unfortunately the food quality isn't very consistent. I've had some horrible meals here so I've pretty much given up on it and I think the kitchen staff has as well. There's no way they would be sending some of that shit out if they cared.
Doesn't stop me from frequenting for beer though... |

Yep, even I'm happy that there is another place to go for a good beer... and I go there for breakfast as well... good omelettes. And yes, we all have to drive south to pick up our beers. I'd love it if some of the craft brewers would start doing some special casks for Hardrock 42 and for the Buddha. We'll get there.
I am getting a little tired of people writing the 'not bad for a hicktown' comments. There's a 100000 bars in the GTA and 99900 of them serve Bud and Coors Lt, with a 100 places with a great selection... Sudbury has a 100 bars and we've got the Buddha, Hardrock 42 and the Fromagerie with a great beer and spirit selection. As far as ratio goes, we're doing just fine. _________________ Paul is the purchaser for the Laughing Buddha and Townehouse Tavern in Sudbury. I wouldn't say Sudbury is doing just fine. There's always room for growth and improvent (that goes for any business). A large number of taps at Hardrock are very similar/bland beers my opinion of course. The Buddha has great bottle selection but it is mostly all stuff that I can purchase or order from the LCBO. I'm not complaining just stating a fact. I go to all these places not just for the beer but also the atmosphere. Great beer and great staff should be more then enough to keep everyone happy. I also wouldn't put the Fromagerie in the mix just yet. And that's nothing against Jake I frequent his place often and really like the guy. He has maybe 4 good beers worth drinking in my opinion once again. The cheese is what brings me in and also fattens me up. I'm happy with what we have so far but I've been to many great beer places so that will always leave me wanting more. I think a brewpub would be one of the best things to happen in Sudbury. _________________ We can get drunker than this!! |

And some of those improvements can be very manageable and go a long way.
For instance, the Buddha has a good bottle selection as you mentioned but it would be great to have some proper glassware to go with it. I'm not saying glassware for all styles, but a generic goblet for the Belgians would be nice.
Ever try a $28 bottle of beer in a tiny Ikea glass? |

Ha ha. I wish we could keep a stock of goblets and chalices in. Every time I put 6 out, they are gone in a few days through breakage and theft. sometimes I get tired of replacing the glassware and let it go a week before going out to buy more. Of course, it also helps to keep training staff to serve drinks in their proper glassware, because I know we've got the Unibroue glasses around. We changed over 15 servers this year, feel free to ask the newbies for the right glass. _________________ Paul is the purchaser for the Laughing Buddha and Townehouse Tavern in Sudbury. Good to know you're trying. I guess my timing has always been bad.
