| I was just at Spadina & Baldwin and I looked and looked for the dear Rogue, but alas I was somewhat dissapointed only leaving with westmalle and orval. |

Some would say it is not the maltiest Doppel. You are essentially right although I think Welty has the sweet/grainy balance of a wonderful loaf of fresh dark bread. Such was the inspiration for the styel anyway - Liquid Bread for Lenten fasting of monks. Personally I dig it.

Also the Westmalle is 90 cents more than it was last time, a 30 per cent price hike. I knew we were getting "bargoons" in Xmas 2005!
All price differrences now have deposit which doesn't count as an increase. (Rogue bottles exceeding 630 mls are 20 cents.)

That actually is a pretty cool way of describing Weltenburger, man that was a pretty good brew. Now, the Schloss Eggenberger on the other hand.............
Generally beers that can actually PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE aren't really up my ally. Odd that I'm drinking the Westmalle right now, which has more or less the same ABV, yet I can actually DRINK this stuff. |

Jesse you might want to grab a few cans of Kostritzer Schwartzbier ('bllack beer') available in general list at the lcbo.
I mean if you have not. It is another quintessentially German beer showing a great balance & a unique grain/malt character that brings to mind the German fondness for wonderful, sustaining bread.

I can say I liked Kostritzer, maybe it was a bad brew but the one I tried had a chemical taste.
I tried the weltenburger, orval and rogue this weekend. they were all great, I liked the rogue and welty in particular and will try to get some more once this snowstorm passes(my lcbo was almost out of stock). |

Yeah I've had the Kostritzer. It's pretty decent, but something must be lost on the trip over the Atlantic, because it's always seemed just a tad bit bland to me. But then again, the Brick's Waterloo Dark, which is a Shwarzbier, is bland too, at least I find it to be. I go through weird phases with Shwarzbier where in I might like it or not. But I do appreciate the suggestion.
On another note, I got SLAMMED today at the LCBO. I finally was able to go get some Rogue Brutal Bitter (as in, I have a bit of money), and I was so shocked and delighted just to see something on the shelf with the name "Rogue" on it, that I picked up 2 bottles (I meant to only get one) along with a few other things. I usually do the math on my cell phone's calculator (I'm not a math student, OK!?!??), and going with the price on the shelf it didn't seem like I was spending that much. But then in typical LCBO style, the Rogue's cost substantially more than they were labeled. I didn't get my recite (I think I was still in shock), but those bombers must be 5ish dollars, maybe closer to 6  . Am I right? |

In the same pricing ballpark as in the US - which is more than we usually see for imports via the LCBO. For some reason, 22oz bottles in the States frequently cost more than two 12oz bottles. So retailers love 'em. |

The $5.95 cost INCLUDES the 20 cent deposit (cost is $5.75 plus 20 cent deposit) |

| Rogue bombers are $6-$8 at places I've bought at in NY and MI. I don't mind paying $6 at home - and the brutal bitter is a great beer to boot. |

Jesse,
The label is printed for that beer is accurate.
It will be very infrequently that the labels are wrong. Especially in the way you have described as "substantially". If anything, you are forgetting the deposit, but the large bold price on the tags is the price with deposit.
Price changes happen on the first Monday of each month, and are generally between .05 cents, and .25 cents.
Also, since the Rogue is a new list product, it has only had one price, so there's no way a tag could be printed with another price, since the price tags come from head office, and are double checked before.
I find it hard to believe that you are having such price issues at the till. And if you were, you should mention something to the cashier.
The staff will gladly go check to see if pricing is accurate.
