Ok. That was TOTALLY worth $100. No question. More comments tomorrow when less intoxicated.

| Just got home...the descriptions on the menu didn't do justice to the complexity of the dishes...eg. the chicken wings were de-boned and then done in a confit and then re-stuffed with the chicken meat and braised sweetbreads...that's just one example. Sam Calagione was in great form and he is an incredibly entertaining personality. He must have visited virtually every table in the place and he personally had a great time. Brian and his staff at beerbistro are to be commended for putting on a fabulous evening of food and beer...Esprit is proud to both represent Dogfish Head and to work with a class act like beerbistro. Anyone who questions the $100 price tag doesn't know what value is...can't afford it...that's OK...but don't gripe cause it was fabulous and most attendees agreed. Should add that a number of local micros were represented at the dinner and appreciated talking to and feedback from Sam. |

| Just adding my voice to the chorus of praise for this event. It was quite possibly the best beer dinner I've attended, and Sam said it was in his top 3 DFH beer dinners ever - and that's from a guy who does 2 or 3 beer dinners a WEEK. Absolutely outstanding all around! |

Absolutely fantastic event. Perfect combination of high-end dinner (9 courses of insane food), dream beer lineup (10 diff DH beers) and a genuinely fun and relaxed atmosphere. I just wish I didn't have to work today so I could have got *really* into the beers
Sam is a great guy and it was also nice to meet Tom from Monk's Cafe as well. Now I want to go to Philly.
Well done to everyone at the beerbistro, it was evident a lot of planning and hard work went into the event. I'd hold this up to the standard of top beer events anywhere. |

I totally agree. The night was worth every penny from the incredible dinner and pairings to the inspiring, honest and very funny Sam Calagione. Beer Bistro was at it's best last night and I can only hope that they do make it an annual event like Sam was talking.
Compliments to the entire staff at Beer Bistro last night as well as to Sam for bringing Southern Ontario a whole lot of Delaware and for such an inspiring event.

Well, let me say that I'm a big enough man to retract my initial statement. At the time there was no indication this would be a nine(!)-course pairing, and of course that changes the value proposition significantly. $100 for this dinner is indeed quite fair.
Its too bad in retrospect I missed this! (Well, not that bad - instead, last night I was having dinner at Astrid Y Gaston restaurant in Lima, Peru )
Cheers! |

I'm intrigued to hear more about this event.
Such as the food. I'm impressed they made "chicken wings" fancy. I need to know what they did with things like "Bacon and eggs"!
How was the beer served during the event?
Was the DFH 120 over the top? Do I blow $9 on a bottle just to have given it a go? |

i second this. the 120 is a big beer, but tasty as hell. just don't plan on going anywhere after you drink it |

Most of the food was very good, incredibly inventive and many very good pairings.
I'd have to agree that the standout course was the chicken wings. As described, it was a pair of chicken wings (the wing with the wingtip still attached), with the wing segment deboned, and stuffed with a confit of sweetbreads and (I think) the removed chicken meat. The wings were sauced in a medium-spicy buffalo wings-type sauce, and served with a stilton-based blue cheese and leek sauce. It was paired with 60 Minute IPA. Great dish and great pairing.
The other standout courses for me were the Soup and Sandwich - a little sandwich of seared foie gras (a nice sized piece) and a very tasty chanterelle-based soup - and the Tongue'n Cheek Craft Dinner - cod tongues, lightly fried, over braised veal cheeks, alongside a old-cheddar mac'n'cheese.
The bacon and eggs was a white truffle custard, served in an empty egg shell, with some crispy bacon and toast soldiers.
The other courses were all great too - no weak courses, although I thought the dessert courses weren't executed as spectacularly as the savoury courses.

Brought to the tables already poured, glassware varied by beer. I'd say the pours were about 6 oz, a little less for the very high alcohol beer, though I could be off on that.

Not over the top, supremely well balanced for how extreme it is. Worth every penny. According to the menu, it'll set you back $14.81 at BeerBistro.

| Sounds great! I didn't have tickets for the beerbistrobash, but that's a good excuse to drown my sorrows by cracking open my bottle of DFH Burton Baton this evening. |
