I just used a time machine to visit an era in Ontario when;
- There were literally hundreds of micros in business
- The government encouraged diversity and showed little interest in regulation and supporting monopolies
- The general public craved decent, locally made, quality beer
- Beers were pure, mostly cask on tap and fresh
- Affordable and considered the right of every working man to enjoy
Did I travel forward into the glorious future we have awaiting our progeny? Nope. Sadly it's all in the past. Check it out for yourself;

You'll also find out who's to blame for the current beer monopoly we all "enjoy". _________________ I don't always piss in a bottle but when I do...I prefer to call it Dos Equis. |

Interesting - apparently the CBC brass has been ordered to pull those clips lest Ontarians rise up in anger. They further try to confuse us by using their awesome French language skills that every public servant is required to have even if they only ever get to use them for this nefarious purpose.

As a Federal public servant I am happy to say that not all of us are required to be bilingual (just, these days, MOST) - I am thoroughly unilingual and still employed. There is, however, no chance at ALL of me being promoted more than one more level. |

| The link is working perfectly at the moment. My condolences to those who cannot fathom an easily comprehended French 404 message -- I imagine you'll totally unable to find good beer in Quebec too.... |

I think the 'carbon footprint' / global oil depletion / green agenda should PRESSURE government to mandate incentives for everything you just said.
Why ship beer 99% of the time? Give us great fresh local beer - and with the savings put the money back in the hands of the Micros & the beer drinkers. _________________ In Beerum Veritas "... Misuse of Literally Makes Me Figuratively Insane..." |

I agree entirely! Or at least I would if Ontario brewers were bottling a decent IPA, Belgian dubbel and quad, saison (Black Oak notwithstanding), and imperial stout on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, I love the local stuff but there are certain styles that are just not represented in the market yet. |
