Does anyone know anything about the new Taps & Tales pub near Danforth and Greenwood? It's just west of the Linsmore Tavern and appears quite close to opening.

The fixtures look great. The tap handles are in but I couldn't identify them at a distance. They have a St Ambroise sign out front which is a good omen.

It won't be any Volo but, for this grim stretch of the Danforth, it looks like a big improvement.

I passed by today and found it open. Told it was their second day. Not a stretch for us but ambitious for the neighbourhood. Should be commended for their emphasis on Canadian micros. Draught lineup is:

    McAuslan Cream Ale
    McAuslan Apricot
    Creemore
    Big Rock Traditional
    Mill St Organic
    Mill St Tankhouse
    Stonehammer Dark
    Black Oak Pale Ale
    Wellington SPA
    Denison's Weissbier
    Steam Whistle (not on yet)
    Guinness
    Strongbow

I had pints of Trad and Black Oak at $5 each.

The bottle menu has about 50 standard LCBO offerings though it does include:

    Mort Subite (Raspberry and Cherry)
    Duvel
    Blanche de Chambly
    Fin du monde
    Younger's Double Chocolate

The food menu looks like standard pub grub with some items a cut above. If you're in the east end, check it out. I'll be back.

That's not a bad tap line up at all; I'm in the area about once a month, I'll check it out, thanks for the info!

I visited the pub last month and had a good time chatting with the general manager, who just happens to be emmersing himself into the whole craft beer movement. Things certainly sounded promising.

Here is my review: http://greatcanadianpubs.blogspot.com/2008/12/taps-and-tales-toronto-on.html

I would drop in on the basis of Denison's Weisse alone, so the other quality options are a bonus.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Kevin, and myself and a couple of other people have taken over Taps & Tales, which we have renamed Morgans on the Danforth. And yes we are all quite passionate about good beer as well as good food, good wine and good spirits.

Still concentrating on a mainly Ontario craft list, with a couple of Quebec beers as well as Guiness on tap. Small bottled/canned beer list to start, but will be working with the LCBO and local agents to add to this as time goes on.

The most exciting news is with the help of Wellington we have installed a beer engine and will be featuring some of their beers and other craft breweries on cask on a weekly basis.

I think we have also put together an excellent menu, and an eclectic wine list, definitely nothing else like it on the Danforth.

We will be opening tonight, Nov 17th at 5pm with (we're crossing our fingers) Wellington Count Ale on cask. Come by and introduce yourself because we hope to be here for a long time. Cheers!

Hey everybody, a little set back today so we will be opening Friday around 4pm instead of today as planned. We want everything to be perfect.

Good news though, we got our first cask today so we will be tapping Wellington County Ale for our opening. See you then.

I have a Christmas party just up Linsmore on the 10th. Might just have to get "lost" on the way and stop in for a quick cask.

We had a great time at Morgans last night. The atmosphere is welcoming, the food is excellent, and our server was attentive and knowledgeable.

Chef Ann came to our table with some appetizer samples. Yummy!

The tap selection is good, but I pointed out that it could be more adventurous. I got the impression that this will happen in the near future.

Plenty of single-malts and interesting wines on offer, as well.

Overall, a terrific spot. It's so close to the Greenwood subway station that driving need not be an issue. I hope Morgans gains lots of traction in this neighbourhood, which is certainly "in transition".

I was told that Great Lakes Canucklehead will on cask this week.

The Wellington IPA was very good.

Had a couple very fresh cask Canuckleheads last night. Next week's cask is Black Oak Hop Bomb.
