Pretty solid selection there. I wonder how the Trafalgar will turn out? I see from reviews that it fares better than their other beers.

Thanks for posting the list, Greg.

No problem. Thanks should go to Troy (Pub Style) for posting it to his blog for me to steal.

I already picked up a case of Orval, so I'll be stocking up on the Brutal Bitter.

yay! more fine offerings from trafalgar!

how is it that these guys constantly have new stuff at the LCBO? maybe it's chosen by the same folks that pick all the european macro lagers? i think i'd rather see offerings from just about any other micro in the province over these guys.

Details on formats and prices will be added once that information becomes available.

ya know, aside from the trafalgar and the st. louis, that's a pretty damn solid seasonal list. combined with a very good winter release and a respectable fall, maybe they're finally getting a clue.

Ya fink?

I do hope so.

Trafalgar (shaking my head) is a amazingly lucky brewery to still be in distribution, and I do attempt to try one of each beer when it comes out just to see how it will be before a full week passes & it dies on the shelf.

We have not had the Westmalle since Christmas of 2005, and I'm glad we will once again have it alongside Chimay Blanc for a direct comparison of two good Tripels. NOT something you want to do before operating a motor vehicle.

The Super-Strong Eggenberg 23º from Austria should be outstanding, as should the Rogue ESB (American Beer IN CANADA??)... and, hey... the Jenlain (French not Belgian) might be a fairly interesting, rare treat, with only 50 ratings on RateBeer.

Everything else is a repeat, some better than others - the Dutchy's is a lush, fragrant very drinkable ale so I'l be grabbing lots of that, & the Welty, & the Orval.

So thank you to all the importers who've worked so hard to get some decent beers approved with the big bad LCBO!

Rogue Brutal Bitter

Hmm. This is part of the spring release eh? Funny, that LCBO call for U.S. micros a while back seemed to imply that the U.S. stuff was all gonna come out together, didn't it? Guess they're spreading it throughout the seasonal releases then, judging by this and the Southern Tier stuff. A little birdie tells me Brooklyn Local 1 and Black Chocolate Stout have been accepted. (for sometime this spring and winter, respectively).

Yeah, and it also seems to have become a mixed bag of seasonal release listings and general listings. Ah well, as long as they hit the shelves one way or another, it's all good.

If this board had a *drool* emoticon, I'd be using it right now...

I was kinda hoping for a few more eastern European lagers and British bitters, but I guess this will have to do.

On a more serious note, repeats aren't such a bad thing. The last time some of these beers were here, I was still pounding away the Ex, so I'm really looking forward to them.

So whomever I need to thank for this - Thank-you.

You have got to be kidding me? Have I wandered into some parallel universe? Something doesn't seem quite right since I went back in time with some crazy old guy in a De Lorean.

We're happy to have been able to offer 4 of these (Orval, Westy, Rogue and Weltenburger) and appreciate everyone's support in going out and buying up as much as you can as quickly as you can...we'll be buying up some quantities for the bar/restaurant trade but we're trying to have stocks sent to one store and we'll try to keep it to a minimum so as not to deprive retail customers as two of these beers are regular Consignment items so they will be available after the promo ends, but we expect demand to be high and for these beers to be sold out long before the end of the 3 month promo.
For some time we were the bad boy in our relations with the LCBO but that is all behind us and the LCBO has been very receptive to the offers we've made for Summer and Autumn 2008 as well as the Holiday Gift Program (you'll see some repeats but some interesting new stuff as well). Also, we'll have a couple of U.S. micros hitting the permanent General List shelves in about 2-3 months time but I'm just going to tease you at this point.

Congratulations on getting these fine beers accepted. It certainly made my day yesterday when I saw the list on bartowel.

I think I know what you were getting at (sorta), but since when are lagers from Estonia on par with British bitters??? I'll take all the bitters I can get thanks!
