I conceded the point that they don't call their large glass a pint. It was Lister who said they did.

*I* called them pints. I never said *THEY* called them pints.

Very true, thanks for clarifying.

I agree this chat is mainly about Bellwoods beers, which they serve and price very up-front and honestly. I am totally on board with their great product & whatever BW need to do to make their business work.

And it should be fine to also to mention, sort of by the way and with a sense of humor, that of course a small serving for 7-8 bucks at ANY bar might indeed extend out to a very high 'pint' price (568ml) of around 10-12 bucks. Not something we need to moralize about - even if it could make a 'session' of some beers quite expensive in a hurry!!

And let's not forget that if the beer scene is growing bigger & better in Toronto / ON; if high-demand places like Bellwods are able to thrive, the follow-on efffect is less-expensive places like Only Cafe selling same or equally great beers for a bit less as well. Different economies at play for different areas, and this is all healthy for our beer scene as a whole.

And to their credit, Bellwoods makes me more optimistic about our beer scene than pretty much anything that I can remember. This is great for our city.

They've extended their hours: "Please note we are currently closed on Tuesdays, but this will change starting June 12, 2012, when we move to 7 days per week. We will also be adding Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunches starting June 15."

Woohoo! Tuesdays here I come!!!! Had I known I would have been there tonight.

Next Tuesday anyone?

Also, not to re-open this rather tedious argument, but I will...

I went on Sunday and looked at my carefully for the first time. Yes, the beers range from 7.50 to 8.50, but a couple important things to note.

If this has been mentioned before, I apologize...

1) Currently ALL beers are 16oz servings except for their 9% beers the dubbel and the IIPA. And most importantly...

2) The prices are ALL IN - so when you notice your bill before tax, no beer is over $7.

So to put this in perspective (because most beer places don't list with the taxes included, I don't think) - you're getting 16oz of that (awesome!) Baltic Porter that's pushing 8% for about 6.85 plus taxes...

Not friggin' bad, if you ask me, but that's JMO!

^ Excellent. All I know is I want to session the Saison very soon on a patio Friday lunch break - and it's awesome to be able to make my own work hours.

I moved just around the corner on Lisgar, and Bellwoods is a nice five minute walk away. We've been a few times over the past two weeks, and the service is always fantastic. Rumour is that growlers will be available this week!!!

Just an FYI - Bellwoods is selling beer (bottles/growlers), shirts, glasses, and posters tomorrow from 1pm to 5pm. Looks like it's right next door to the brewery.

I think I hate you! (Not really man.) I'm just jonesing to sell house and move HERE before the 'still affordable' million-dollar houses become Steve Austin-priced houses. This is a great central area to live.

Yes "still affordable" is nice. The house two doors down is currently up for 1.2 million if you want me to put a good word in for you

Bottles were in the 6-9 range, and I think growlers were 12-15+deposit. I may be off on the growlers though, memory is fuzzy.

I think the growlers went from $13 for the Common to $20 for the Witchshark, plus $6 deposit for the bottle.
