I'm going to Pennsylvania, more specifically Grove City, over the Easter weekend and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place for craft beer.

My only experience with buying beer in the US is in Buffalo (Consumers & Premier Gourmet), so is there anything similar to these places?

About 60km north of Grove City is Meadville, where Voodoo Brewing is located. I wasn't able to go last August while I was camping in the area so I'm not sure if its a brewpub or not. I don't believe I bought any beer when I was in PA last year and opted to grab my beer in Buffalo before going to our camping site.

As for Grove City, I went a few years back for Black Friday. I was just getting into craft beer back then, but honestly don't remember much (other than really cheap swill.)

I believe PA has some weird beer laws though, not sure if its still the same but at some places you can't buy singles and can only buy by the case (no 6's.) I think there's more info about the laws in this forum, maybe the thread on Erie, PA.

Can't help with places in western PA but Kish is right, I know you can't buy more than 192 oz of beer if it's not in full cases or some crazy thing. The last time we did the guy just split the purchase into 3 transactions.

Southern Tier in Lakewood NY is a bit out often way but worth it.

Unfortunately, you are heading to a pretty bad part of PA in terms of craft beer. Check out the BA guide to Erie. There are a couple of half decent places there. But aside from a stop @ Voodoo in Meadville, there really isn't anything on your way that is all that great. Buffalo is still your best option.

Are you willing to detour? If so, there is an amazing bottle shop in Youngstown, OH (about 40 mins from Grove City). You will find Founders, Bells, Three Floyds, Alesmith and The Bruery (among others) there.
