Re: What're you drinking right now?

tried a friend's Rose d'hibiscus that they got on tap. it was not good. no longer tart like in previous years. it's changed. amsterdam's interesting. you have 2 very talented brewers - iain and cody - but you have a large, multi-provincially-distributed brewery. so i think that amsterdam and great ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Spearhead was the first time I saw a visible rep of one brewery verbally trashing another (better) brewer while promoting his own product. I suspect that happens a fair bit but it was enough to put me off their products. Their post Hawaiian beers sucking was just a bonus I guess.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

IPA tasting with the aforementioned friend. My scores: 1. Ransack the Universe 2. BTP Aromatherapy. This was close. 3 and 4 in no order:. Smashbomb and Immodest. He didn't score anything but liked Ransack the best as he got Peach (his favourite fruit) in the aroma and taste. He's learning ;) *Edit* ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Just wondering but were the last 3 ( "pedestrian" is being nice) for the benefit of your friend? I haven't touched those beers in years, 'though I had a Boneshaker last night which was quite good. Really I could have used a number of adjectives but Pedestrian seemed the most PC ;) The Gre...

Re: Vermont

I've done that horrible gravel road in my old Honda Fit thanks to my old GPS. Best/Worst part was when we finally came out on 16 there was a farmer who was waiting to see if I'd come out onto the highway with or without my car.

Oh, sent a message also.

Revisited a few older favourties (and not so favourites) over the past couple days with a friend who came back from Ohio who's new to this whole "weird beer thing", roughly in order of how much I enjoyed them (or not): DDC Aphrodite Great Lakes Eliot Ness Amsterdam Cruiser DDC Equinoxe Pri...

Re: Current ratebeer.com Ontario top 10

The tick feature hurts ba ratings, agreed. Edit:. Had 10 bitter recently and it'sa shell of its former self. As an aside Black Oak left a lot of money on the table not brewing it regularly back in the day. I remember one black oak rep doing samples at my Lcbo telling me he wished black oak never bre...

Re: Current ratebeer.com Ontario top 10

Nothing like a dead day at work to bump a thread older than dirt to see how far we've come in 5 or so years. Top 10 via RB as follows (cider excluded): 1. Bellwoods Skeleton Key 99/94 2. Bellwoods 3 Minutes to Midnight 99/93 3. Great Lakes Karma Citra 99/100 4. Great Lakes Thurst! 99/100 5. Amsterda...

also looks like they are really lacking in the recipe creation department. I'd say that's pretty accurate (not necessarily talking about Halo here). Back to the Halo, the Impossible Geometries was quite good out of the bottle. Not certain they've turned things around completely yet but this was a s...

Judging by the impossible geometries I just drank I'll be drinking a lot more Halo this summer. Very solid.

Re: Folly Brewpub

Drinking Invented #1 right now. Very nice, lighter funk notes really add something to this beer without blowing away the palate or being astringent. This would be on my shortlist as in intro to saisons/funk. Very nice!

Re: Napanee Beer Company

I'm camping out there during the long weekend so I'll give it a shot. Would be nice if the website gave a bit more info (I had to scour facebook to see what they're offering) - If the "German black ale" ends up being a good schwarzbier I'll be happy. I mean (in principal) they gotta be bet...
