Acquiring a cask

Before I start calling around, has anyone ever acquired a cask for personal consumption from a brewery? I'm getting married at the end of August and would love to be able to serve cask ale. Obviously, the pump is harder to come by so I'm happy with a gravity poured option. I guess I really should ju...

Mmmm 2 year old Critical Mass and Black Bullet

Oh yeah, hits the spot. Black Bullet tastes like.... fake coconut? Weird. Really, I don't think anyone needs any more information about this event.

EDIT: actually, more like fake pineapple plus coconut, kind of like a weird brown pina colada mix.

That's actually not true Rob. It never cooks off fully. Perhaps 90% of it or so, but there is always some left. I suspect you consumed a bit of alcohol that day. Usually even after hours of cooking, you are left with 5-10% of the alcohol in the dish. Which is why it is never recommended that recove...

Enameled cast iron: while they have the heat density of cast iron, they don't behave the same stick wise (assuming a well seasoned cast iron). You need both. I've generally bought at Homesense and have had no problems - use them all the time. I'll post hte brands of the ones I have later on. I agree...

The only thing I can complain about a $5 16oz at Duggan's is that they inconsistently pour and refuse to top up a glass that is obviously under filled, saying "it's supposed to be poured like that" when the pint before that was filled to the brim. She ran away before I could say otherwise....

I'm betting they don't. A pint is far more a standard measure in Britain than it is in Canada. People here ask for a pint based on it being the largest size glass, not on it being exactly 20 oz. I disagree. Don't assume people are stupid - do assume people are lazy. Most people realize that a "...

I've been given a short pour at Duggan's, Volo, and C'est What. I think most of the time, it's due to the bartender being too impatient to let head settle after they poured a pint with too much head on it. If it's the odd pint, I'll just go up to the bar and ask em to top it up, saying something lik...

Indeed! I'm thinking they'll do a raspberry wheat, but judging by the lime success, they may choose to do something like lemon wheat or orange wheat given that those are the normal garnish fruits.

hehe thanks, and yeah I have a few bottles of Orval. I might bring one of those out but it isn't a similar style to the quads/tripels, so I might not. We'll see :)

Except I don't like extremely acetic beers, I am embarassed to admit... I hope there are great lambics I can actually tolerate LOL. Yeah I agree; a 750 is definitely a bottle to share for me. A 330ml of Roddenbach Grand Cru can be a challenge even. I've got to be in the mood. I think LCBO wi...

Still haven't decided. I'm just hanging out, drinking and watching movies and playing video games, so it doesn't seem right to burn through a bunch of high end bottles :P For the evening, I've got a 2003 Mort Subite Geuze (before I know of/had access to better) that I'll drink. There's a Bruton Lili...
