Books & Brews Book Club - Sep 23

Shameless self-promotion for my book club during Toronto Beer Week! Books & Brews will be taking place Upshtairs at Tequila Bookworm at 7pm on Wednesday, September 23rd and we'll be discussing Jennifer Egan's "A Visit From the Goon Squad." It'll end in time for people that want to head...

Re: Canadian Brewing Awards 2015

My BC trading partner has sent a lot Four Winds and they almost always impress. They had a rye IPA once that missed the mark, but one bad beer out of five or six is not a bad ratio. They do great things with brett (Juxtapose IPA and their saisons). They're definitely one of my top Canadian breweries.

I've been trying to put off doing the bus trip, because then you're limited to VBM and the bus schedule. Plus it just sounds like such a pain.

Looking to do it as a day trip. Also willing to trade beer - Cantillon Kriek, Logsdon Seizoen Bretta or Bellwoods releases people may have missed.

Any Bar Towelers interested in helping out two guys the next time they head to Buffalo on a beer run? A friend and I don't drive but are looking to head across the border for beer. We're both in Toronto and will compensate with cash. PM if you might be able to help us out!

Had dinner here on Friday night. They had the Left Field Eephus, West Ave Heritage Gold, Ommegang Hennepin, Black Oak 10BY, DDC Derniere Volonte and one other tap I can't remember (might have been the Oast House Porter). The yuba sandwich and pot pie were very tasty. It's a small place and was packe...

I'm planning on taking a bottle of Cuvee de Ranke to the in-laws for the Christmas Eve dinner, then Crooked Stave Persica on Christmas Day. They're picking up some Beyond the Pale for me, so I'll mix in that and maybe some Bellwoods I bring.

Didn't look too closely for bottling dates, but all beers have the best before date on the bottle cap - quad is 2020, Black is 2024. All BBD are DD/06/YY, so my best guess is that they're all from late June (DD ranges from 19-26 on my bottles). This would also be in line with what R+R said about the...

Sour Bottle Share - October 5th

Toronto Bottle Share is putting on a sour bottle share on October 5th from 1-5pm near Broadview and O'Connor. For those that don't know how our events work, everyone brings at least one large (650-750ml) or two small (330ml+) bottles of beer (in this case only sours). The host provides food and eve...

North Bay

Visiting a friend in North Bay this week. Are there any decent/craft friendly places in the area or should I just pack lots of beer to bring with me?

My issue is that they're putting DDC beers on tap before the event, which is annoying after I've paid $20 to get into Volo for the event
