Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

I did notice a female in one of the pictures though. Does this present a problem in what is likely a giant sausage festival?
There are 2 women enrolled in our class this year. Haven't noticed any problems.

Niagara College Brewmaster course

Since I started Niagara College's Brewmaster course this past week, I have received a lot of questions about the course, often from people who are interested in possibly taking the course. In order to provide a bit of insight into what we are experiencing, I've started a blog: http://studentofbeer.w...

(*) Sawdust City is an upcoming brewery that is going to be built in Gravenhurst. For now, brewmaster Sam Corbeil is brewing out of the teaching brewery at Niagara College. Their debut beer is a very unique one called Great Weiss North For those who live closer to Welland than to the CNE, there is ...

Just a somewhat tardy note that everyone standing around our table on April 14 considered the Scurrilous black Belgian IPA to be the beer of the evening. It had a straightforward northwest IPA nose, but the taste was much more complex--started sweet and roundish with yeasty notes, then halfway throu...

Curious are the ways of LCBO distribution. Grand River Curmudgeon:

Peterborough (pop. 120,000): 334 bottles
Owen Sound (pop. 21,000): 214 bottles
Oakville & Burlington (combined pop. 310,000): 0 bottles

On Saturday (Mar 26), there was a shelf full (10-12) at the Appleby Line/Upper Middle Rd location in Burlington. They must have discovered a case in a corner, because two days beforehand, the shelf had been empty.

What I found interesting was the Ontario-centric nature of the article. Considering the Globe purports to be Canada's only national newspaper, all the beers mentioned, with one exception, were from the LCBO--anybody reading the article in Calgary, Vancouver or Halifax wouldn't have access to any of ...
