Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

The result is that the flavours from the ...

Most unusual beer of the night: Flying Monkey Netherworld Imperial India Porter. Imagine a porter crossed with an IPA. Rather than the coffee/mocha nose typical of the Imperial Porter family, this had a Cascade grapefruit nose. The taste started with a huge hop-bomb attack (50 IBUs) that morphed to ...

Received Nick's book under the Christmas tree, and I have enjoyed reading it over several lazy afternoons. A highly amusing read and yet a call to arms ("buy local, buy craft") at the same.

Cheers!

Granville Island was a groundbreakinfg micro in 1984, making superior beers with plain names like Anniversary Ale and Island Bock. However, in the 1990s, they went upscale, moving their marketing efforts away from the beer geek over to the less-discerning. They created a new line of groovy labels fo...

Note that the food has been quite good as well: BBQ'd corn on the cob soaked in red ale, and burgers marinaded in pale ale in August; and mussels steamed in pale ale, and marinaded steak in September.

I was, however, quite disappointed with the turn out. Actually, there were two more. My wife and I arrived late (due to a motorcycle accident on the QEW that shut down all 3 lanes at Beamsville for 2 hours). When we finally arrived, Ian was in the back leading the other Bartowellers on a brewery to...
