Beau's is already triple shifting their brewhouse after the backend upgrade and bottling line in late 09. So they are basically at capacity until they fork out some significant capital on a new brewhouse. That's sort of what I figured happened that lead to Beau's getting into Toronto. So for a seas...

if an ontario brewery could put a legit west coast IPA on LCBO shelves for ~$13 a sixer i wouldnt have much use for ST IPA or 60min anymore For me Beau's Beaver River IPEh in the same $15.60 four pack format as the Lugtread would do the trick. I'd never look at Southern Tier or Dogfish Head again. ...

But you remembered that it was the German Pils... so unless they start bringing out more than one you know what to order again right? Yea but I know what a German Pils is and why I ordered it. But my point was more that there are a lot more beer drinkers who don't know what a german pils is, and fo...

My understanding was that the numbers were semi-random, but who knows. The whole random or semi-random numbers for the beers seems weird to me. Especially in an industry that is all about branding and brand loyalty. I mean I visited the Duggan Brewery last time I was in Toronto, I had the German Pi...

The other nice thing about the Magic Hat tour, and something that you almost never see these days, is that the tour and the samples are both free. The sample are given out in shot glass style glasses but you can have as many as you want.

I also like that these are glass. The only problem I ever had with a bottle of beaus was one I bought at the brewery. The ceramic bottle had a hairline crack in it so when I opened it, it was completly flat. Luckily I was going by the brewery a few days later and took it back. They gave me two bott...

I bought a pack of these last night. Very impressive. What also impresses me is how much the old ceramic bottles must have cost, if something that looks as fancy as this does is considered the lower cost alternative. I also like that these are glass. The only problem I ever had with a bottle of beau...

High school was all Molson Old Style pilsner! It was the cheapest in BC at the time. Also lots of Kokanee tall cans. University was all about buck a beer! Kokanee was my go to beer for awhile when I lived in BC. But my first go to was probably Okanagan Spring Pale Ale, until some point in the first...

Re: We've come a long way

If Dieu du Ciel for example had to make enough Aphrodisiaque so that there were stacks of 24's of it in every Beer Store, I am not sure if the company (or any similar small brewery) could maintain that same level of quality. True, but then if regional micro brewers had a higher volume demand, there...

There might be some trademark or copyright issues here what with there already being a Great Lakes Brewery in Ontario, as well as the fact that Magic Hat's flagship beer (and the one that is in all the variety packs) is called #9.

Re: We've come a long way

At least I think so. Today I was sitting st Chancey SMith's having a couple pints after work. I looked at the taps, and smiled. You know, we really have come a long way. And by "we" I mean the drinkers and brewers in this province. <snip> We may be slowly getting there, but we are certain...

In the provinces that have private stores they could buy up chains. Now they own the distributors and the suppliers, there is an economic term for this that escapes me besides monopoly. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but don't most of the provinces that have private stores doesn't the govern...

Do we WANT our province going out with its public corporations, competing internationally, with the free use of our tax dollars? What if they LOST money??? Who pays for that? Tax hikes? Sounds like we'd be funding a multinational company (or companies) which already places its own interests above o...
