I mean I wonder if it is a population thing but I always found it weird that in the top 50 there isn't a s...

Re: take what you want from this

Some of Canada's own great craft-brewing Provinces are largely left out of our product selection as well. I wonder how much this is the LCBO's issues and how much of this is the breweries. I mean I used to live in Victoria and would go on tours of the Vancouver Island Brewery all the time. They bas...

Too bad more than the first 2 posts cant be happy with the achievement! This is GOOD for all Ontario micro breweries. for the record i think that the brews being served are a good representation of the ontario beer scene. rickards red shouldnt be there but im happy for the other breweries. Molson i...

what would your reccomendations be? I would have had some true craft beers on the list from true craft micros. Why not something from Black Oak, Church Key, Grand River and Dennison's, instead of the 4 totally mainstream beers that are on the list? Probably the same reason you don't see those beers...

Yes there used to be bottle deposit. But then they got rid of re-usable glass pop bottles. I'm not sure but I think the soft drink industry lobbied strongly for one-way packaging. Saves 'em money not re-shipping, cleaning & inspecting all these heavy Coke bottles. Also the current system can st...

Re: Life Lessons learned at TBS

they are pry off not twist off My mistake then. Even so there has to be big money in accepting bottle returns, I mean it is not like the beer store or whoever have been doing it for all these years out of the goodness of their heart or because they are environmentally conscious. They do it because ...

Honestly, I don't mind Sam Adams, but the vast majority of Canadian microbreweries produce products that are as good or better in my opinion. I'm not sure this is a plus for the Canadian market if it potentially means that we start seeing "decent" US brewers displacing sales of "pret...

Re: Life Lessons learned at TBS

Southern Tier IPA is an industry standard bottle, isn't it. Which means it can be used for Molson Canadian just as easy as it can for Southern Tier. Unless they have changed it, I don't think there are any US brewers using the Canadian ISB. Most use lighter thinner "one way" glass. Anyone...

As for returning empties that were purchased out of province to the beer store, I have no qualms about doing so. Effectively, I am taxing the beer store / LCBO 10 cents for not carrying what I want, and thus transferring that money to the place who carries what I am looking for. Small victories... ...

Re: Life Lessons learned at TBS

Never return empties to a BS out of the socio-economic area in which the LCBO resides in which you bought them. Did not like my Southern Tier IPA bottles at all. I am curious why they would even care. I mean even if you bought it in the US and only paid a 5 cent deposit on it, Southern Tier IPA is ...

Really, I got mine shipped to Ontario pretty easily. And if you were on their mailing list at the time you could pick them up for 50% off so it was only $15 for four glasses. Interesting. When I contacted in January of 2009, they said that they 'could not process international orders'. I paid $30 f...

Whoa. Do you mean the high-tech glasses they were promoting a little while back? I wanted to get these so bad, but couldn't get them shipped here. Really, I got mine shipped to Ontario pretty easily. We don't need the Province to promote playing video games or buying potato chips - so then why alcohol? None of those things are 'necessities', nor are they worthy of special promotion as a business interest. 2¢ I agree with you there, that we don't really need a government run liquor business. The...
