Re: LCBO 2015 Xmas Release
These gift backs are still the only economically feasible way to acquire unique glassware from your fav brewery.. Have you tried checking out local thrift stores? Recently I have found at various value village stores: an Arrogant Bastard glass, an Orval glass, a Tetley's pint glass (with a union ja...

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store
I fully expect Grocery stores to have listings very similar to TBS. For all the reasons previously stated, especially the listing fees. In large part, I think this will be because of the limited roll-out of stores. Maybe if the government would let independent grocery stores or even smaller chains ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
(Disclosure: I work for LB, in case anyone didn't know) It's not a flip top. I'm not too sure about the gimmick thing. Lake of the Woods only had growlers (not cans/bottles) and submitted to the LCBO. After their trial run they (LC) were looking for someone to do it province wide. We did it last ye...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
I mean the weirdest thing is why anyone would want a pre-packaged growler from the LCBO. Growlers are normally for beers where the point is that A) They're very freshly brewed and on draft. B) Brewers that don't have bottling lines or have a one-off that's not worth bottling. C) For the experience ...

Re: Beer Coming to Grocery Stores?
Yeah you're right, that is a possibility. I'm still pretty pessimistic about it, speaking as someone that lives non-GTA. IMO There's two main reasons the better beer selection won't make it to our local grocery stores. 1. The LCBO still controls the distribution so they'll still hold back those hig...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
I also don't get why brewers still date formats like "09/03/15" Is that September? Is that March? Most of the time I just buy another beer and not take the chance. Ambiguous date formats always piss me off. Although at least the numbering is better than some stupid code with letters and a...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
Flying Monkeys Coast To Coastless Any idea when this one is gonna hit the shelves? I only heard "end of july". Maybe when I'm in Vancouver soon I can pick up a bottle of the Phillips one. End of July, really? I was in Victoria at the end of June and the Phillips version was already out. T...

Re: Ontario bars want to sell takeout beer
I've been proposing this for ages, ever since I witnessed the phenomenon in the States. Bars and restaurants are already licensed, but why should you have to physically be in the venue to drink it? http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2015/04/07/ontario-bars-want-to-sell-takeout-beer.html I really do...

Anyone know of taste testing between Chico Sierra Nevada and North Carolina Sierra Nevada? Just curious. Presumably, if nothing else, the water is different I would be shocked to find out that a brewery the size of Sierra Nevada doesn't have the ability to treat their water so that the water from b...

I think most people will agree that the beer sections at the LCBO are pretty much at capacity. There's that whole stupid SKU issue that has been discussed elsewhere, but as for physical capacity, I won't argue your point generally, but I know that my local could squeeze more in if they wanted to. O...

I honestly think this is really interesting. Sure metro and walmart probably won't have anything interesting. But like in the US there are lots of other grocery stores that position themselves as different by selling higher end or higher quality products. Look at the beer selection at just about any...
