How's the Hoppy Hefe? The Hoppy Hefe is brewed with German Weissbier yeast but shows no fruity or banana flavors and and no spicy clove or hints of lemon, bubblegum or vanilla you might find in a typical Weissbier, or in something like Hopfen-Weisse. With its dry, complex hop bouquet HH is a grassy...

oh come on, doesn't anybody think of the children anymore? Helen Lovejoy still does! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh2sWSVRrmo I think nanos are a neat idea but the time and effort to make 100 L of beer is the same as 1000 L, and will end up crushing your soul and eat your profits. I would ...

Almost as depressing as seeing a brewer and author of several books on beer spell 'palate' wrong twice in one post. You wouldn't catch Garrett Oliver doing that

This recipe is tough to beat. This was deemed cloned by the CYBI crew. Info from the horses mouth in notes. Still pretty simple recipe IMO.

Good advice from Grub, and while his methods speak for themselves (kudos on the BoS at TBW), I would dispute 2 things: - Most styles don't require a secondary in my opinion, it is a wasted step that provides little to no benefit. Leave it in primary until it is done fermenting and cleared. 2 weeks ...

Vote for the Freedom Party! Viva la revolution! In all seriousness could someone explain the rationale behind the Liberal sales tax on Ontario-made beer? How can local brewers remain competitive? If anything imports should be taxed at a higher rate, but I guess that would be ILLEGAL under NAFTA/EU t...

Ontario has yet to recover from the temperance movement in the early 1900s. Allowing private sale of beer would go a long way to shedding the shackles of puritanical ideology. Currently reading "The Art and Mystery of Brewing in Ontario" and it's shocking how many breweries were in operati...

I'm also detecting just a tiny amount of funk in the aroma too! Not sure where that's coming from, though. Or is that just fruity tartness?
Shipyard uses the infamous/famous (depending on your politics) Ringwood yeast, which yields some fruity esters.
