I used to, but it's next to impossible now with so many beers being released. I have also had too many times where I do "one of everything!" at a brewery then half of them are not great when I get home!El Pinguino wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 4:08 pm Does anyone else have a weird completionist mentality like me,
Looking for the original Bar Towel blog? You can find it at www.thebartowel.com.
We have a trivia question in order to register to prevent bots. If you have any issues with answering, contact us at cass@bartowel.com for help.
Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Re: Zwanze
The $19 was only for two specific ones IIRC. Most of the bottle pours were more like $10-12 per 5oz, which works out to around $52 per 750ml/26oz which is a lot but not crazy given that the bottles started at around $35 per bottle retail. Some of the rarer ones were significantly more. Lots of peopl...

Re: Is lining up for beer releases a thing of the past?
I think part of it is that there is SOOO much beer out there now that there is not really as much scarcity as there used to be, but also as I get older, the bar for what i'd be willing to line up for has gotten a lot higher and frankly there aren't many beers I'm willing to line up for anymore!

Re: Nickel Brook Brewing
Nickel Brook has re-branded their No Bad Daze Easy Going Lager to simply Easy Going Lager. Hmmmm. Can't think of why. Turns out it isn't re-branding, but a replacement. "Please note that this new brew will be replacing our "No Bad Daze - Easy-Goin' Lager". You can still purchase No B...

Re: Jasper, AB and Revelstoke, BC
It's been several years since we were there but Bear's Paw Bakery was great when we went in 2017. We enjoyed a nice dinner at Jasper Brewing despite the beer not being super impressive. I was going to recommend the old school movie theatre but it appears to have permanently closed. Driving between t...

I tried them shortly after they first opened and enjoyed it but haven't had the chance for a return visit yet.

624 new to me ratings from 173 Breweries Favourite Ontario Brewer: Volo (18 new beers, Average 3.68/5), Still Fields (7 new beers average 3.7) I think Volo was the only bar in Ontario I visited multiple times in 2023. Favourite Ontario Beer: Volo Beer Lino (based on being my top rated, and I had sev...

Re: Greg Clow to close Canadian Beer News
I think chase is the operative word in many ways. It used to be such a rarity to find new and interesting beers that a "Bar X has Beer Y!" post on Bartowel would send us running. Now it's pretty much impossible to keep up with all the beer just from Ontario. I love CBN and appreciate it - ...

Skeleton Park acquires both Signal and Spearhead: https://thewhig.com/news/time-was-right-for-big-beer-business-moves This is another one where it surprises me a bit to see which brewery is doing the purchasing vs being purchased - I would have thought Spearhead was the bigger player. Will be inter...

Re: Revel Cider
Well if BlogTO has the same effect on Revel as they have on cheap but good restaurants, and day hikes "near Toronto" then Revel is about to make big bucks!!!
Seriously though, I hope this publicity and attention does help them out.

Re: ISO: Ontario Brewery Ticks
I was mostly kidding. It would kind of depend on how you define good; Some breweries are objectively good but their beers aren't necessarily to my own taste. Other breweries make some beer that is great and some that is not. (Some breweries have a reputation based on hazy IPAs, or adjunct beers that...
