I need to get up there again - still have a family cottage on Kushog but live too far away to make it worthwhile anymore, although a brewpub might pique my interest. Was "That Place" Mr Foggs many years ago? If so that would make "Mirror Lake" is the pond behind the old Castle Lu...

Rats, I was just in Kingston and I am sorry I missed the Red House. The Mrs and I pub crawled through most of the downtown pubs and were disappointed with the lack of craft offerings. We very much liked Sir John A and The Iron Duke but their beer selections were lacking. The Brewery was good in a bu...

I took a couple of people from work to the Morrissey today. It is a lovely pub in a great space and the staff were nice too. I had a few Palm ambers which was a new beer for me; it was tasty - champagne malts and nicely balanced. My friend had a Dennision wheat which he enjoyed although he usually s...

I tried the stout on tap at Pepperjacks in Sarnia because it was the most promising beer in the selection of McBrews that were available. It was the most unusually tasteless stout/porter that I have ever had (granted it was served too cold which didn't help matters). There was nothing "wrong&qu...

The Black Pearl place was dark for a couple of weeks and now the windows are papered over, although the lights are on inside. The motel still seems to be operation - anyone know what is happening with the place?

SteelbackGuy - thanks for posting an informative message. It's nice to know what's happening on 'the inside' and I certainly appreciate it. Cheers. As do I. Thank you. I bought both Corne du Diable and Peche Mortel at the Leaside LCBO when I was in TO on the weekend (with fancy tape seals I might a...

Ontario used to have a reasonably large hop industry but some kind of blight put an end to it in the 40s or 50s.

I tried this from a bottle on the weekend. I prefer larger ales but I thought this was pleasant, soft and drinkable. If it were just a bit cheaper I would buy it again.

I was stood up by the folks I was going to go to the Morrissey House with today so I went to the Black Pearl on my way home from work instead. I had never been there and I was expecting a diner motif (as it's the restaurant portion of the Lighthouse Inn) but was surprised that it was more of a dark-...
