I hope they put as much effort into the beer itself. But something tells me they're going after customer experience/vibe rather than tasting great beer...

Interesting...I never noticed that. Was the % listed in the little program? I tossed mine out already so can't check....I didn't let strength dissuade me from my choices, but I guess that was a luxury of going to numerous sessions and not having to "cram them in". No, the program didn't l...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread
Can some explain how cask days manages to get beers from modern times, cascade, etc? Why dont places like biermarkt do this year round? Cask Days has likely built a good reputation over the past 11 years, and brewers are eager to get in. The UK casks came over in 2013, and I'm not surprised that Or...

Re: Cask Days 2016
We found that by about 8:30 on the Friday session, many of the sought-after casks from Québec were done :( Maybe they were being closed, to save for later sessions. Overall, we thought this was a terrific Friday session, with many great domestics as well as imports. The atmosphere was energetic, the...

Re: Bench Brewery (Beamsville)
Just had Bench Brewery's Ball's Falls (session IPA) at The Ship in Hamilton. Delicious.
Bench is building their 50hL brewery in Beamsville, in an old public school. I drove past that building many times when it was up for sale.

Re: Batch (Creemore brewpub)
I've had people tell me before that they get headaches from unfiltered beer. Usually the same sort who report problems with red wine. I don't know if there's any actual medical basis for it. People who have problems with red wine are typically having an allergic reaction to histamines. The histamin...

Re: Rainhard Brewing
This is not a review but just a short commentary on the brewery. We had our first, and really pleasant visit to Rainhard on Good Friday. We drove in from Hamilton, so getting to the brewery was straightforward. I think it would be a little trickier to get there by TTC. Very much a relaxed atmosphere...
