Re: Beerhive at Pearson Airport

I've only walked past it without checking the lineup (thinking to myself "huh, a beer bar at Pearson"), but pictures and descriptions suggest they have multiple Muskoka beers and Crazy Canuck on tap. If you have time to kill and are in the mood for a beer, it's probably at least worth chec...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I really don’t care for the Boulevard Stout. Bought 4 bottles, should have only bought 2. Also, I bought another Black Butte. I know I said I wouldn’t, but it really is a beautiful beer, and it was staring at me wanting to go to my home, lol I'm pretty lukewarm on the Boulevard stout too. I mean, i...

Thanks for the heads up. That's probably the freshest packaging date we've seen for any US beer at the 'BO in a while.

Re: LCBO Spring Seasonal Beer Release

I see 7 reasonably interesting beers I haven't tried before, and 2 others that I'll buy in volume, so overall not a bad release (especially for spring). Lots of new Ontario stuff that may or may not be good. One thing I am wondering is whether fresh Ruination will arrive for this release. The curren...

Sounds like the QC is all over the place, as my can was super clear (could see the hockey game through my glass) but still tasted awesome.

Re: Fuller’s sold to Asahi

I'm not thrilled about this, but as far as I can tell Pilsner Urquell has maintained its integrity/quality, so let's hope we see the same outcome with Fuller's. Reading the article it sounds like they have negotiated a guarantee to continue operating and brewing at the Griffin facility, but no speci...

Re: "Great Beer. Better Access."

Looks like the Ontario Craft Brewers have launched a campaign calling for "craft beer freedom" in the alcohol retail market: https://www.craftbeerfreedom.ca Long story short, they are asking for private liquor stores / speciality shops, as well as alcohol sales in corner stores and big-box...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Bad, predictable news for hop lovers: the latest US imports are 2+ months old. Stone Ruination: Nov 7 2018 Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale: Nov 19 2018 Founders All Day IPA: Early Dec IIRC Picking up Left Field Laser Show canned Jan 23 was a no-brainer. Yeah, I still grabbed a few bottles of the Ruinati...

Re: Beer in Grocery Stores

My wife and I occasionally shop at the Farm Boy in Etobicoke. It has a decent selection of craft beer, all of which is refrigerated, but nothing more than what you see at your average LCBO or Loblaws. Beers like Nickelbrook Equilibrium, Wellington Brown Ale, Steamwhistle, etc. The best grocery store...

Re: BrewDog in Toronto

While I've had generally good experiences with BrewDog, that bar list and PDF make me wonder whether they are overextending themselves. Both make it seem like they're intent on world domination, which I don't find particularly appealing (are they Budweiser, or a craft brewery?). I won't render a ver...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

It's nice to have that Wvrst spot open at Union, and it certainly takes care of the awkward wait times. I was there last week and enjoyed a great pale ale from Sonnen Hill. Agreed. There's so much about this place that works – good food, convenient location, great people-watching from the bar, and ...
