Re: San Diego

Bumping this thread to seek BTers advice on whether it's worth renting a car to visit some of the suburban/out-of-town breweries in the SD area. If we were to go this route we're thinking of heading north to Escondido (Stone) and San Marcos (Lost Abbey), but also considering Alpine (35 minutes east ...

Re: Los Angeles Recommendations?

Hey, you are looking for spots in LA and San Diego, any time for a stop in between? Orange County/Anaheim have some can't miss spots IMO - Bottle Logic, Bruery, Bruery Terreux...numerous bars and bottle shops too. I work in LA/OC/SD for a couple weeks every 3 months or so. Monkish (10min from LAX) ...

Re: Bar Hop King vs. Bar Hop Brewco...

On the whole, I've had better drinking and dining experiences at the King Street location, and enjoy the atmosphere a bit more as well. The only drawback is that it can be difficult to get a seat at the bar, since the place is always packed. My preference is King, but you'll have an easier time find...

Re: Forest City Beer Fest

I've gone five of the last seven years. It's become a major part of the city's beer scene and now includes pop-up events held in the lead up to the festival. Definitely worth attending if you're in the area, and they've done a commendable job of constantly attracting new breweries and cideries. Ther...

Still going through the LCBO's mandatory 4-month warehouse aging, which only applies to hoppy "drink fresh" beers.

Anyone else predicting this will taste like a barleywine if and when it shows up?

Re: San Diego

Modern Times Flavordome, right next door to a great ramen restaurant, Underbelly. Just down the street is another Bottlecraft location, North Park. Don't miss the Anvil & Stave tucked in the corner inside AleSmith. This place is as close to heaven as possible for me, hands down my favourite bee...
