Re: UK update
Beers from the UK used to feature so prominently in the seasonal releases. Now, not so much. You took for granted that a beer like Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome was going to make an annual appearance year after year, but then it was gone. I don't know how big the Ontario market would have been for a...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Anyone 'member when they brought in some Dogfish Head 60? It was the greatest summer our lives... I sure 'member the price: $12 for six. :o 17 years ago, spring 2006, wow. And then after all that the LCBO rejected it for the General List! :x I find I'm really missing English beer these days. Fuller...

Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?
Also, weve completely lost some styles of beer in the current beer landscape. modern Berliner Weisse and Gose are nothing like the styles were traditionally, and they didnt change for the better I had the same thought when I started reading this thread. I'm sure I've said this before, but Schulthei...

A single bottle of De Ranke XX Bitter at Summerhill, but there must have been more since they had a product number taped to the cash register. Bargain at $2.95.

Re: Duponnabes need not apply
A bottle-conditioned ale that keeps a very long time. FWIW, a week or two ago I opened a 750ml bottle of Saison Dupont from 2004. Still hugely enjoyable, fresh and lively, even at 14 years old. Orval starts getting tired after 8-10 years, but I think Saison Dupont could go 20+. It will be interesti...

$5.60 in 2014 according to an old forum post. That's a big price increase.Bobsy wrote:Point taken, but I remember it being below $5 last time we had it. Maybe I'm mistaken...Craig wrote:Really, for the quality, quantity and ABV of that beer, it's pretty reasonable.

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives
imagine if the lcbo gets cantillon.. Let's not forget that Esprit did that Cantillon private order all those years ago. What a sedate affair that was, by comparison: you got an email, you took a week or two to think about what you wanted, and then you waited. Oh, and how about a 750ml St Lamvinus f...

ooo panil. been a while since we've had that here Is it likely the last one we had was the 'European' version, which has not been produced in a while. This new release should then be the more intense / better- received one. Different beers. We had the full sour 'American' version last time, so it s...

Re: LCBO Winter Release 2017
Or we could just shake the sediment into the beer a few days before opening it? No. Sediment is probably polite; nasty chunky floating sludge is maybe more accurate. It's almost like a magic trick: Behold as a cup of crap suddenly appears in a sealed bottle of beer... It is a nice beer, though. Wit...

Pretty nice price on the Abbaye des Rocs...but damn do those beers throw off some serious sediment after time in the cellar. Drink fresh or have a strainer ready.
