Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Re: Greg Clow to close Canadian Beer News

Greg did admirable work with CBN - it stood out because it was professional and well written, while being presented without an agenda or angle. I hope Greg enjoys the well deserved break!

Re: Talk or Action?

My initial reaction to the announcement is all fairly positive. Now all the small brewers have to do is get to 2026 :)

Re: Talk or Action?

Having more places to sell beer is vitally important to the craft brewers in this province - they have long argued that shelf space is one of their top issues. So this could be a very important announcement for those that have a plan in place to be able to distribute to these "new" sales ...

Re: Talk or Action?

While LCBO locations will maintain consistent pricing, private retailers will be able to set their own prices "consistent with relevant regulations," according to the province. Right now, all retail outlets have to adhere to pricing set by the LCBO. There will still be a minimum price for...

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out

Running a business is hard, and to succeed you have to be good at it. I think many people were like "let's start a brewery!" and rode the wave of customers appearing at their door simply due to existing where there wasn't anything prior. I have long rambled on at CBA conferences to whomev...

Re: Kingston Brewing Company

I've been going to KBC for a solid 20+ years now. While I avoid the house beers, the extensive guest tap lineup is really good these days- one of the better ones you will find in Eastern Ontario I would argue. I absolutely love the pub atmosphere there and the food has always been solid pub fare and...

Hey Cass and crew - thanks for the email, it was a good incentive to log back in and check things out. Congrats to you and everyone here for keeping this going over the years! I've checked in from time to time but it is certainly so nice to see so many familair names here on this current thread. Cas...

Muskoka is an interesting brewery. On the one hand it represents everything that is "wrong" with Ontario's beer scene, in terms of brewing safe, inoffensive styles with indistinguishable names (Dark, Cream, Lager, etc). In this regard it undeniably contributes to and upholds the province'...

Hey guys, I have not posted in a while, I hope everyone is doing well. This is not a bad little beer at all - there is no need for the "light" name on the can, but it is there to help them sell and maybe stand out in terms of craft beer (or fit in in terms of mass market beer?) and hey, if...

The bottle I had was stunningly decent. It was also very fresh, before it was even showing up in the LCBO system. As always with Trafalgar, it all depends on how lucky you are with getting a fresh bottle. I can say fresh it was more than drinkable - kind of like a kicked up Flying Monkey's Hoptical....
