Re: Witchstock 2018

All good points. A big pet peeve of mine are those ridiculous miniature Nonic "pint" glasses that are really only 14 ounces or so. Do they think I am an idiot and am going to be fooled somehow? Very insulting to our intelligence. I was quite disappointed when otherwise top flight beer bars...

Re: LCBO Autumn 2018 Release

Is there the usual Hallowe'en release too? Some local Marzens, I hope.

Re: Grand River Brewing

Was true, historically, but I'm pretty sure I saw their stuff in standalone cans last time I was returning empties at TBS. Didn't buy any.

Re: Ottawa and area help

A little bump to this thread to ask if there is anything new and noteworthy? May have part of an evening, and perhaps a Saturday afternoon, free in Ottawa, likely the west end. I notice that some of the top places, such as Lupulus and Wellington, don't even seem to be open on Saturday afternoons! Od...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Thanks. Will keep my eyes peeled for that - one loves Jutsu. Funny, but BTP seems to be one of the mainstays of my Loblaws here in the middle of Toronto, even though it originates in Ottawa of course. The mysteries of our beer distribution I guess ...

Re: Picton and Prince Edward Co.

That is excellent, thank you. Thinking of going for a couple of days so appreciate you diverging from just beer into restaurants, etc. Any other tips gladly received.

Re: Portland, ME

You don't really mention pubs - did you have a chance to visit any? In 2014 I had an overnight there and managed to get to the King's Head and Novare Res, which were the top two on Beer Advocate at the time. Haven't been back so don't have any current info.

Re: LCBO Summer 2018 Craft Beer Release

Is anyone seeing that Saison Dupont on the shelves yet? I had a bottle of Dupont Avec Les Bons Voeux a few weeks ago for the first time and it nearly blew my mind! Yeah, Avec les Bons Vouex over the Christmas / holiday season (for which it is brewed) is a real treat that I look forward to if I can ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

IMO Komes, a hefty, sumptuous 9% Baltic Porter, is really great value at $3.65 for 500ml currently. Agreed, and it's also great to see something from Poland that is not a pale lager. There is a real lack of variety in the central/eastern European selection in this province. More baltic porters and ...

Re: Good pubs in Stratford

Suggest call ahead to ensure HHOE open (depending what day you're going). Otherwise, very friendly and (agreeing with everyone else on here, I'm sure) well worth a visit. If you like the ponies, or at least the buggies, there is a sweet little racetrack at Clinton, a further ten minutes from Seafort...

Re: Godspeed Brewery

Sorry, but I really can't agree with any of that. I don't go often, but by chance I was also there recently. I find the Japanese minimalist aesthetic quite calming and pleasing, especially on a hot afternoon with the big doors fully open. It's not a place you go if you're hankering for an IPA, to be...

quote="darmokandjalad"]You're right guys, I'm sorry for suggesting that the Doug Ford-led PCs may do something stupid for short-term gain.[/quote] Don't disagree with that. I'm not supporting Doug Ford as the optimal outcome for Ontario. I'm just saying I think there is little chance that ...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

Cite the evidence that "privatize the LCBO" was part of the new government's platform. I'm sure you will find it was not. Perhaps I would, if that had been a thing that I had actually said and not merely a strawman of your own construction. I obviously misinterpreted "dismantling pro...
