Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Back from Calgary where the bourbon is more expensive but the scotch is less expensive than the LCBO. So on a totally impulsive buy I bought, and had tonight: Nikka - From The Barrel Lovely rich dram with a bit of sweetness, subtitle fruits and almost a creaminess. Would give this to a scotch curiou...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Had the 10 a few times last night. My first one I found green and chalky with too much body, funny enough. However after having a few IPAs and getting to the point in the evening where I wanted to gear down or I’d suffer the consequences in the morning I switched back to a couple of 10’s to end my n...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

This evening I really enjoyed a dram of Aberlour A'Bunadh at my friends place. Is the $100 price on point or off? Aberlour a'bunadh is top 5 best bang for your buck single malts at LCBO so much so, that its been virtually the same price for nearly 10 years ($95 in 2010 to $100 today), while its see...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Thank you sir, some interesting things I should check out, however anything you can think of at a “I won’t get in shit from my wife ” price point? You're into (expensive) craft beer and you're worried about shit from the wife over a bottle of Scotch? Your problem is liking heavily peated whis...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Really like: Lagavulin 16 ... still a classic but the current $135 price tag is getting into "pass" territory. Consider the 8 year at $85. Its not as "smooth" as the 16 but packs a peat punch Ardbeg 10 Compared to most markets, the $100 is still expensive but its been the same p...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

It’s been a while since I’ve bought a bottle of Scotch. What are people currently recommending that isn’t a ripoff at the kgbo? can you give example of a bottle you liked in the past? Really like: Lagavulin 16 Ardbeg 10 Jura Superstition Like: Nikka 12 Bowmore 12 Talisker 10 or 12 (can’t remember) ...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

... it’s too high octane for my liking, taking my breath with every sip ... Not trying to tell you how to drink your whiskey, but .... you knew a "but" was coming  IMO, people's concept of "sip" when it comes to spirits involves too much liquid entering the mouth - especial...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Not a bourbon drinker by any means, and this comment may seem ignorant, but what about hitting it with a tiny tiny splash of water like doing with a single malt scotch? ? Yes that’s how I drink bourbon as well; I treat bourbon and scotch the same, with a threat of water as my preferred method over ...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Larceny ($50) is a "wheated" bourbon along the lines of Weller Pikesville (pricier at $90) is a rye-heavy bourbon along the lines of Blanton's original single barrel If you haven't already tried, consider Four Roses Small Batch ($47) or Single Barrel ($53) ty! Thoughts on the Wild Turkey ...

Re: Cowbell Brewing

Couldn’t find a Cowbell review thread so I’ll place this here: I’ve been to Cowbell 3 times now. Each time I’ve been impressed with the atmosphere and food, and the beers have been decent if a bit tame. Overall it’s been a positive experience. However when I was there last Sunday I went to the beer ...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Hey Belgian, notice a lot of these bourbon/whisky barrel aged wines at the KGBO recently. They any good, or just bad wine covered up by barrels and marked up because they can?
Thanks.

Re: Creemore (Springs)

I bought the Pilsner the other day and it also has the small old logo on it and I also agree the new branding is terrible.
