Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Cool. Like I said, my bad. Thanks for clarifying though. Things just seemed to be getting out of hand lately, and I think we all need to stick together. We're all after the same goal, no matter who we are or what we do. Though the fact that I am a lesbian might cause trouble from time to time. it's...

Their bottles are awesome looking. How could you smash them? The beer store are like barbarians or something... try a google search to see their bottles, I don't see any on their web site http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=bEz&resn...

Ottawa Business Journal Article - April 20 2009

This is an older article from April I stumbled upon. I couldn't find a link anywhere here after several searches, but if this has already been posted I apologize in advance. (there is a post about a Beau's article but the link goes to the ottawa citizen which has taken the story down it seems) http:...

if avoiding the LCBO except for when it is convenient, and buying only seasonals and their better offerings, then I think it's safe to say that the majority of people on this forum are already "boycotting" the LCBO. All we lack is a Facebook group and a thread on Bar Towel about it. hahah...

Well it certainly is a drama... 1) Buy up as much of the GOOD beer the LCBO brings in 4) Lobby your M.P. to allow two-tiered liquor Done that 2) Buy your beer directly from the brewer. Doing that. 3) Lobby the LCBO to expand certain categories Haven't done that. As for comments about it being a PART...

You guys are cracking me up. I think a couple of you might want to take a break from alcohol. This is one of the most grumpy forums I have ever been on. Even arguing politics and religion has gotten me more polite responses. But won't that make you "feel a bit guilty about choosing convenience ...

So in what way is this a boycott?

because every other month I won't be buying anything at the lcbo-bs

I'm not sure bimonthly-boycott is as sexy a word

I know over the past few years the avalability of quality beer has gone up at my local LCBO's. It still has a long way to go though. So by buying the beer I enjoy from them I hope to keep this trend going. Good luck with your boycott. :) For sure, like I said, I will most likely be dropping into th...

Right, that's why I've started it up. It has to start somewhere. You didn't start it. These kind of grass roots protests have been attempted many times before, both here and elsewhere, and nothing has changed. Whether people like the existing system or not (or are indifferent like the vast majority...

It's a pointless exercise to "ban" either the LCBO or the BS for any duration of time. Not at all, I will quite enjoy it. Neither corp will be affected by the absence of a small minority of customers and really nothing quantifiable will be achieved beyond denying yourself some decent beer...
