Pacific Beach is a nice area and a couple of good beer bars are really close to one another. The TapRoom on Garnet has a really great beer selection with a focus on local, so lots of Stone, AleSmith and the like. Nice place. A couple of blocks away, right off the beach is the PB Ale House. This is ...

Hi Ian, I now have the harvest from gardens of two friends, probably about 400g now. I'll set those aside for you. I'll see if I can get some of the others off and dried as well. The wet Cascade is likely too large for me to get to, as possibly is the Willamette. They are still looking for a good ho...

I'm guessing that you won't be needing my hops this year then ;-) So for those who were interested in Ian's crop, I will offer up my hops this year as well. I have: - 200-300g of dry Cascade from a friend's harvest this week - 1.2+ kg of Cascade - 300-400g of Willamette - 100-200g each of Golding, N...

The SAQ on du Plateau handles the Bieropholie private orders so they might be the best choice. Pickups have always been easy.

We stopped by the Old Mill Pub in Ashton on the way to the cottage and on the way back. It is a favourite country pub of a older friend who hails originally from Newcastle. The staff was very friendly and made our kids (4 and 6) feel very welcome. The brewery will be doing a total of 4 different bee...

I pick up sisal or jute from whatever hardware store is in the area. It is fine for the whole season. To tie off the bottom end, I've drilled eye bolts into bricks and buried the bricks so that the loop of the bolt is just out of the ground. That keeps the sisal dry enough so that it doesn't rot thr...

I just managed to get around to training my hops today. It's been a busy spring for me but not for the hops because of the lousy weather. I've got 7 varieties growing: - Cascade, Golding, Nugget and Willamette: these plants are 4th and 5th season and just starting to reach 4 feet. with the warm spri...

Anyone had the Moa beers? I had the Moa original. It's been over a year now so I forget anything specific other than it was merely okay. And I certainly saw various bottles of Moa's beers at various times and various places throughout my trip there, so I'm not sure why they're playing up the rarity...

+1 on the Milford Sound. We did it in sea kayaks in a driving rainstorm and loved every second of it. There were even penguins.TJ wrote:The absolute highlight for me was doing an overnight cruise in Milford Sound. It's one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had in my life.

The Alphorn in Craigleith has some interesting taps. Peter would know more, of course, but I think I heard they have Smashbomb and another tap or two from Flying Monkeys? Nothing specifically mentioned on the Alphorn website but they do have guest taps. I remember seeing a sign last year indicating...
