Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

FWIW, I've tried quite a few near-beers and Beck's Non-Alcoholic Beer is the only drinkable one I've tasted. I get through quite a lot of it when I'm on-call, especially in the summer.

I'd be grateful for alternative suggestions though.

Thanks. This afternoon I wandered by and the place seemed empty, though I didn't go in. I'll definitely stop by tomorrow for some oysters and a pint or two.

C'est What was indeed open this afternoon, and busier than usual too. No Sage and Spruce Wit available though.

Are any other bars open during the day? I know BeerBistro is closed, but what about C'est What? There's nothing to say they're closed on the website, but that means very little.

NYT Article

Today's NYT has a review/tasting of various "transgressive" extreme beers, including Lagunitas Maximus, 90 Minute DFH, Southern Tier Unearthly etc. Nice discussion here.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record , can I ask for some clarification on what Volo's current weekday opening hours actually are? The website still claims that Starting May 6, Volo will be closed on Sundays. Monday through Saturday we will be open from 12pm to 2am. Dinner starts at 5.30pm, ...

I thought Volo was closed on Sundays? I'm never really sure when they're open. At the bottom of the webpage it says: Mon-Fri 4p-1a, Sat 11a-1p, Sun 11a-10p. But a few weeks ago they made this announcement: Starting May 6, Volo will be closed on Sundays. Monday through Saturday we will be open from ...

I use PmWiki on a hosted server for my own purposes. It was very easy to set up and customize, and there seems to be quite good support from the author and community (though I haven't needed it). It's free and flat file based, so you don't have to fiddle with MySQL.

Just a gentle bump to this old thread - I was in Sydney last weekend and paid a number of visits to the Lord Nelson. The beer scene in Sydney really does seem to be pretty tame, but the beer at the Nelson was definitely better than the rest. The interior of the bar is quite attractive, and the staff...

Was it Propeller? Not a bad beer at all.
