Re: Bar Hop 2 (Peter St)

It's great to see Bar Hop doing well still. I remember when it first opened in 2012 and I was out of province. I still got there by the end of the year and posted a great review here. Great great food to go with a great great beer selection. http://www.bartowel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8043...

Re: What are you UnCellaring right now?

Thx for all the feedback. Strangely enough, I have all the beer mentioned here since my last post in Feb. Great info. Actually on second look, I don't have the Chimay Red. I have some Peche Mortel that have to be around 8 years old now. I have no idea how it's going. I'm excited about my cellaring O...

Re: What are you UnCellaring right now?

I have a lot of beer on long term cellaring. Tonight I'm on the same beautiful Rochefort 10. From the last big batch of Rochefort released by the LCBO in 2010. BB date of Sep 2016 so almost 7 years old and it's aging wonderfully. Still lots cellaring and I'm looking forward to them. I asked this els...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I've been enjoying Saison Deux Fois La Taille lately. A very approachable saison made in Canada. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/37562/184559/ I also had a Gulden Draak that has been cellaring for some years now. Amazing. Lots of complexity, more rounded character, love the esters. One of ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Opened up a Le Trou Du Diable barVolo 25th Anniversary Sour Blend tonight. Very nice. Soft and more nuanced than the various Drie Fonteinen and the Cantillon I've had.

Re: Beer Cellars

I've got a LOT of beer cellaring for some years now. So many are hard to find and I don't have the selection available to me that I used to. Since many can't be easily replaced I've been reluctant to open them up so they are sitting. I used suggestions earlier on this site for beer styles good for c...

About time. :D

Interestingly, this is not the first time UNESCO was mentioned on this forum.

Black Ridge Brewery Milk Stout

From a relatively new SK brewery. Recently found on the shelf out west. Price is great. It has a middleweight heaviness for the style. No significant alcohol comes through in the taste like some of the supercharged stout offerings. The taste is typical coffee roast, somewhat singular without much co...

That's very unfortunate. He can be a busy guy and doesn't give updates per se, but it wouldn't have been intentional. Could be a lot of things, even a spam filter.

We've dealt with Peter many times without an issue. Hopefully you don't give up on future opportunities.

Not out of this order, but I had it at Bar Volo a few months back. Very nice. More subtle than Cantillon St Gilloise (not so firmly sour). I remember when initially poured it had a very strong barnyard smell. Beautiful colour. Definitely worthy in its realm. A must for lambic enthusiasts imo. The PO...

How many got in on the De Ranke private order

Just received our Kriek De Ranke order from Peter. There wasn't much talk on the PO subforum where this was offered. Just wondering who else got in on it? Or missed out and wanted it? I'd have thought many would want in, sorta like a Cantillon order....

I've found the trappist dubbels and quads quite awesome. My favourite style overall. The La Trappe Quad is definitely different from the other quads, with more esters giving a very notable banana flavour in the profile imo. While Rochefort 10 and WV12 have been my traditional favourite for a heavier...

Can't remember and hard to tell. My guess is a 2009 or 2010 release. The label is stamped 11:14.
