Cask in Hamilton

Looking for anywhere other than "The Winking Judge" in Hamilton that has cask ale.

If it's what I feared, then I'm opening my own cask beer bar...

Whoa! Slow down there...

Big thanks to the response and inquires from people. Always excites as to how interested people are about beer now. Unfortunately, I have to post-pone the March beginning of Cicerone Training. I would be fooling myself if I actually thought between opening Lansdowne brewery and the many other things...

Another round of Certified Cicerone® training

Here we go again. So, since unfortunately the Beer Academy is closed, I have relocated classes to the Lansdowne Brewery (303 Lansdowne), where most likely they will be predominantly held every Monday night, starting around mid to late February. Although the brewery is not open yet (we are working on...

Price spike

Funny you should mention...

I'm in NYC right now, and pretty much every Belgian import is up 25-50% right across the board.

Duvel 750mL is retailing for $17.99 US in grocery and drug stores. Seems rather steep.

Nice thread

Both valid points from both parties. I'm using 100 mile Lager tonight as BJCP 2C. Classic American Pilsner Fits the bill perfectly. I think honestly, Ontario is excelling in the Lager department. West Coast seem to have the IPA's sorted, and Quebec is tearing up the Belgian scene. Good beer is good ...

The cost of living

Thanks for your interest. As for the cost, next time around it's going up. Seibel kits have increased in price by 33%, my venue has increased by 20% and nobody is cutting me breaks anymore on Beer and supplies. That's inflation for ya. I have seen Certified Cicerone training advertised on Twitter fo...

Change of Plans

Just deleted last post to avoid any confusion. Sooo... I have decided to push back the dates for Cicerone training to a later date, perhaps a month or so. This will put the course back to probably one night a week, with a scheduled Cicerone exam to follow shortly after. Special thanks to Bar Towel f...

Hey hey. Aiming for yet another round of Cicerone Beer training in the new year. Once again, the classes will be offered privately, and the Beer Academy, probably twice a week until the exam day. Those interested should have a look at this link to give you a little idea of what is involved in this c...

Wow. I'm actually old enough to weigh in on this. Growing up in Windsor, and moving to Toronto in 97', I remember Upper Canada and Sleeman dominating whatever craft scene was around. Brick was great, but only one or two bars in Windsor carried it. We had Charley's Pub, but they made one really gener...

416 has Wheat no longer

Was just at the Amsterdam brewery this afternoon, and sampled a 416, only to notice that it is now being called a lager. Nice gentlemen behind the counter explained that 416 will not be containing wheat anymore. When did this happen? Beer was alright. Unfiltered lager with the same hop aroma and bit...

Post Mortem

So I thought I'd use Greyhound for my beer run. Made into Buffalo at 10:30am. Took the train up to University station, then the 34 north until Maple Rd. That took 2 hours. Grabbed lunch and walked over to Premier Gourmet. Purchased 70 odd bottles of beer. Put them into a 50L backpack and one big ass...
