Domaine de Joy

Domaine de Joÿ Envie 2017 This white wine is from Gascony in the Southwest area best known for the region of Bordeaux. Decent, medium light body with some mineral and dry herbals, tart green tropical fruit and exotic lychee... some interesting catty notes, lemon curd and crisp acidity. Gascony regi...

Such as it is. Link. Not feasible for brewers with the currently imposed tax structure.

I guess the race to the bottom wasn't such a competitive idea after all.

Ch. Les Tourelles Bordeaux

Château Les Tourelles 2015 A pretty boring Bordeaux. It has some red and black fruit (cassis) and some light herbality. The overall result is a wine that's a bit too thin and dry and flat-tasting. I mean it's OK but you could buy a mouthwassh like this for a couple of Euro at budget Aldi supermarke...

Re: Coronavirus

Although it must be mentioned, it would be wise for the time being never to take a swig from anyone else's bottle or glass, whether it happens to be a Corona or some kind of beer.

Godspeed MINE apa

Finally some GS Pale Ale again! Enjoying this new MINE American-style Pale Ale - very fresh and refined, with some juicy citrus nuances that are surprisingly delicate and almost mandarin-like. A good one, also on tap at The Only Cafe. https://untappd.akamaized.net/photos/2020_01_29/41b3b555321363679...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

ÇA Blueberry Sour With Cacao Nibs. I’m usually willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt on new beers and although I wouldn’t say I love this, it is highly drinkable. Also, it is at the low end of the sour spectrum, even when compared to their other sours, so it might be a good intro beer...

Juggernaut RIS V1 revisited

Stone City Ales - Juggernaut Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout Bought at brewery Dec 17, 2016, so likely the first edition sporadically available since 2015. It's quite decent with a good length of full flavors - rich dark fruits, roast, and notable yet not overpowering bourbon & wood presence...

Bellwoods '15 2MTM update.

... Also a 3 Minutes To Midnight (Cherry/Raspberry) 2015 & a Skeleton Key 2014. I might keep the 3 minutes another year to see if it smooths out all that raspberry (or see if if it gets even weirder.) I don't think Skeleton will ever get much better OR worse, it's amazing. The 3 Minutes To Midn...

Agamemnon MRIS

Omnipollo Agamemnon Maple Syrup Imperial Stout Let me just say this is deliciously chocolatey and roasty, with a kind of burnt marshmallow nuance. The maple compliments all of that. This company makes some beers that are like S'mores by the campfire and this one is certainly really good in that way...

Madder than usual bitches

That batch of Oerbier was an anomaly... finished at a higher ABV than normal. In Belgium, they don't adjust the labels to indicate that ABV. They just sell as is. Good to hear Oerbier is coming to :LC shelves! Wow. This online order: Oerbier original description of ABV on Ratebeer 7.5%, official 9....

Montfaucon Baron Louis Lirac 2015

Château de Montfaucon Baron Louis Lirac 2015 Dark garnet blend of 55% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 15% Syrah, 10% Carignan, and 5% Mourvèdre. This Lirac is a fuller, rounder Southern Rhône red than I was expecting - deep dense red/black fruit and blackberry/blueberry compote, spicy oak. It justifies at ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Yeti, which just hit the shelves of my local today. This is, IMO, a truly world class Imperial Stout. I picked up eight, two for now and a half dozen to sit for a while. I saw that and was curious. It scores REALLY high. Was less of a fan of Oak Aged Yeti, which had really gross bitter wood tannins...

Fontanafredda Langhe Nebbiolo 2018

I would keep an eye out for the Fontanafredda Langhe Nebbiolo 2018 arriving next weekend, this was one of my favorites from last year . It's got really nice nuances of 100% Piedmont Neb grape character yet more accessible for short-term drinking and at half the price of Baralo and Barbaresco. This ...
