Re: What're you drinking right now?

Pricey, for sure, but when I'm able to quaff a top-rated Hill Farmstead beer on tap, you won't hear me complaining. No those are 'beer tourism' prices you just have to budget for. Especially that kind of stuff! I was at Stone City Ales yesterday - a 16oz not-a-pint of SCA Pale or IPA or Helle...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

My mother's side of the family is from the Grand Rapids area. Based on my 32 years of experience with and interaction amongst the people who live there, the idea of casual racism being tolerated in the workplace is not even remotely difficult to take at face value. Michigan is basically Arkansas wi...

Re: Collective Arts

Collective Arts Project Sour Harvest Saison is in LCBOs. One sip and I said 'Ahh, this is for any of us who were missing a little Pumpkin Spice and saison eathiness in their CA Jam.' Actually it may be a hint less sour than Jam up the Mash, to bring in the balance and focus of the spice and pumpkin...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Wow! Regarding the Founders issue...If you drilled down deep enough, IMO you wouldn’t buy much based on the moral judgment idea. That's kind of a terrible argument. ... doesn't disqualify a consumer from deciding that someone/some company is a big enough jerk that they don't deserve their business....

And you don't even have to debate your reasons, I respect that.

But if you cared to explain, what would those be?

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Beyond The Pale - Yummy! 473ml $4.00

Left Field - Prospect Single Hop IPA 355 mL $3.75

Both are tremendous. The 25 cents more is a good deal though.

Founders

I'd wait for a legal resolution before making any assumptions that Founders Brewing is unprincipled in human concerns. For one thing the company clearly hire people of diverse backgrounds, or this firing could never have happened. Maybe they are indeed planning to replace discriminatory employees wh...

Hardy's

Enjoying a Hardy's 2008 and then a 2006.

Both very enjoyable right now. They seem closer in overall profile than I remember.

Anybody tried the Asahi brewed version of the past three years?

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Let's compare New England Pale Ales!

Beyond The Pale - Yummy!

Collective Arts - Life In The Clouds

I have to say the Yummy! wins today, by just a little bit. Both are fantastic.

Cheap Czechvar

Having some Czechvar! Definitely has an easy palate, soft bready round Pilsner from the real Czech Budweiser brewery. 45 cents off. This beer really demands a good schnitzel and some potato salad with it (I wish.) Also a Side Launch Mountain Lager. A Dortmunder in style, this one and Godspeed Otsuka...

Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release

... Something as rich as (Schneider @ Sohn) eisbock should be saved for an important night. I treat it the same way I treat Samichlaus - once a year at most. Maybe two if it's a particularly excellent and/or terrible year ;) I find the S&S Weizen Eisbock a little too much even compared to the S...

Re: Collective Arts

All of the above true. Basically a tweaked recipe, same entry / beer identity on Ratebeer for example. If I had to guess I'd say CA Jam has only gotten better.

... Art Collectives ?

Jam Up The Mash - the cleverly renamed Mash Up The Jam. So tasty! I may have to grab a handful more.

Ontario Beer moment

Left Field Prospect (single hop) Simcoe - seriously one of the best fresh local IPAs currently available. Citrusy and pale tropical fruit hop nuances. Grab one or six at the LCBO if you see it. Now a Side Launch Wheat - for the new BT'ers, this is Denisons Hefeweizen re-branded, namely a top-rated b...

Frohen Oktoberfest!

Hacker Pschorr Münchner Gold. Great-looking bottle & is a simple malt-sweet beer for $3.50. I probably enjoy Hofbräu München Oktoberfestbier more. The wild honey note hangs on for a bit. More 'cereal' aspect which isn't bad just different. HaandBryggeriet Haandbukk Nice Dunkler Bock from Norway....
