Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer

Henderson's Brewing Co. Pearson Express IPA

Showing at LCBO 3.65.

Not bad for the price, still has an identity crisis between a Weissbier and a sort of OK IPA.

The fruity tones remind me of Schneider. But it has some fullness to it so maybe try one and see what you think.

Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer

Great notes! Blood Brothers sells a NA hazy style IPA from their cool funky brew pub store / music hall. I like their setup, it feels very kind of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The beer is pretty good, about commensurate with Bellwoods Stay Classy which is a nice go to most of the time. Bellwoods Bellwood...

Re: Thirsty & Miserable

Loved that place, semi-legendary TO hangout to remember. Good beer and no BS or attitude. Actually the bartenders kept a careful eye that patrons kept things reasonably classy and respectful. The vibe was be nice, be there to drink beer, or get out. Plus Katie makes awesome playlists. This was to me...

Re: You think we have it bad

Interesting story. But as for your thread title, I don't in the least think we have it bad. It's 'not bad' for an oligarchy and better than even less than a decade ago. Was still pretty Soviet-esque around 15 years ago when we had to scramble for every decent IPA and BSA and RIS that briefly became...

Re: Happy Holidays!

That looks like Zum Flaucher. Such a beautiful setting, I'd love to have something like that here. For sure that would be great here - the simple genius of trees to shade the beer, along with perfect snacks. It's really not far from where my Aunt and Uncle now live, on Grünwalder Straße 3-4 km away...

I think goose down outerwear etc. is going to become extremely popular… :D

Re: Are you travelling for beer again?

I would plan driving trips to Buffalo and Montreal, as much to just chill as anything.

I don’t think things are going to be totally safe for many years, if in fact ever. I do need to fly in the next year or so to see relatives… I do feel the need to be extremely cautious.

Re: What to do with the Beer Brothel?

So many thoughts on this. And yes Cass thanks to all that you and the others do and have done for BT. Over 17 years it looks to me like you have all helped change the face of the Ontario beer scene to the point where its unrecognizable… For example now people can develop a pretty high literacy in be...

German N/A Weissbier 2-3 bucks / 330ml

I've just taken notice of the Weissbier NA sold at Loblaws - these are: - Erdinger Weiss NA $10.29+tx / 6 pack 330ml - Weihenstephaner Weissbier NA $13.99+tx / 6 pack 330ml - Krombacher Weizen NA $10.99+tx / 6 pack 330ml The Krombacher is highest-ranked of the three and has the best body to it, perh...

Grüvi photo from Untappd

Also from Rowe Farms I have found the Partake Stout to be pretty acceptable. The Red is light and simple yet surprisingly tasty. The Blond is bland but OK. I'll be putting more Red in the fridge... and some of the Partake Stout (Rowe Farms) and the Big Drop Stout as well (from LCBO.) Have you tried...

Re: What're you lightly drinking?

Had a few low-ABV brews... the Godspeed Draught-lager style "Baby Svetly" (1.5%) is pretty acceptable for a crushable quaff, and the Omnipollo KONX (0.3%) tastes almost like a good light sour pale but something in the taste goes very wrong, like it's spoiled or infected. I'm not expecting...

Re: Ormes de Pez / 2012 Le Conseiller

Yes still very young, was expecting even more tough tannins but got very bold fruit. Could have decanted for a very long time. It's cool when an affordable ($20-30-ish) red is not only reliably amazing but only gets better... then can stash away several to open for years to come. I've got a number o...
