Rodenbach / Palm / Boon Agent Ontario

Hey Folks,
Does anyone know who represents Rodenbach in Ontario currently? Hobbs and Co apparently do not any more despite their website. I have contacted Swinkels, the new parent brewery but not got and answer. Many thanks if you have any info.

Re: Esprit Agencies

Has anyone spoken to or seen Peter in the last couple of months? I have been emailing and phoning him regularly to try to buy beer for ages with no response. I have been his customer for 14 years and have never know him to be out of communication this long.

I will definitely practice before hand. I will also pour the first beer through cheese cloth. I am getting an old bayonet to do the sabering. I'll let you know how it goes.

Opening Beer by Sabrage

Has anyone got any experience sabering cork finished beer? I'm getting married in the Fall and thought I might open some magnums of beer with panache. Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Kafercrazy, Sorry about the Gulden Draak. Bit of a misunderstanding from the LCBO employee though. I ordered that beer. That particular store had no plans to get any and no plans to stock it. It shows up in inventory because there is no way to flag it as a customer order. I don't have any specia...

I remember stumbling (happens a fair bit in Belgium) upon a cafe in Brussels that specialized in Unibroue beer. This would have been 2000 or 2001. I have not seen it on subsequent visits and did not go in the one time I did see it. They had La Fin du Monde signs all over the outside and the list had...

La Chouffe, Maredsous, Ommegang

Interesting meeting today with two fellows from Horizon Beers. They are the new agents for Duvel and De Koninck in Ontario. They tell me they will be listing Maredsous Brune, La Chouffe and Ommegang Hennepin at TBS in both bottle and keg this month. It'll be great if they pull it off.

Trappist/Abbey Beer/Cheese Tasting

I picked up a few Trappist and Abbey cheese while I was in Belgium last week and we are having a little tasting. We will be matching beer and cheese from four monasteries. Orval, Affligem, Chimay and Maredsous. The only cheese regularly available in Ontario is Chimay so this is a rare chance to try ...

Publican House Belgian Eight or Better at St Veronus

We just tapped our first keg of Publican House Belgian Eight or Better. Very well made Belgian style strong amber ale. All the great yeast characteristics you would expect plus soft fuity notes and well integrated alcohol. Great job John!
