Re: Bellwoods Brewery
not open monday's anymore?! pretty sure they had a staff party and closed up. according to the website they're closed mondays unless it's specifically for this week I think that was just specifically this week. They seem to be having website transition issues, so I'm not sure I would take that to m...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
All Bellwoods beers have a hint of DMS. Thats called "Bellwoods character". A hint of it is fine....but when it's a primary flavour component, it's far from ideal. The first batch of hoppy beer from Halo had a serious DMTS problem...almost undrinkable. They've improved remarkably though.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
Didn't see any social media announcements but Bellwoods has 2 new beers in the shop - Mango IPA and Sour Petite Saison. They are $5.50 and $5, respectively. Edit: Just tried them myself. The Sour Petite Saison is very light, not overly sour but easy drinking. The Mango IPA is very juicy (citra hops...

Re: Halo Brewery
I like that we seem to have high expectations for new breweries. Whether it be halo or bandit or whoever. When I look at Left Field, I remember their launch...was happy to have new beers in town, wasn't overly impressed early on though. Now, they've established themselves more and are improving the...

I'll second that...very enjoyable!skootles wrote:Had one on Friday, and it was quite delicious. Not sour, but good and tart, and the currant flavour was light and not overpowering. Overall a very solid brew, especially at 7.5%.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
The current Monogamy Simcoe release is drinking very well. It's so incredibly fresh with a nose that is incredibly floral. I didn't actually know Simcoe hops could be this impressive.

Re: New Belgians / LCBO History
I like that there is an ongoing commitment (Rochefort, St. Bernardus) to good Belgo-Trappist beers at LCBO - even though we rarely see them all at once, they tend to re-occur. Chimay Premiere AKA Rouge is the only immutable presence, since back in the Beer Dark Ages when it was probably 4-5 bucks a...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
The Freigeist Abraxxxas Lichtenhaimer pear is now in stock. It's really one of the most interesting beers the LCBO has sold in a while. I love it, but I definitely have to say it's not a style that everyone with love...especially with the initial smokiness.

Re: Halo Brewery
Halo and Bandit (and others) did the same thing: branding and logos were made well before the beer was launched. which is fine. Halo didn't launch glassware prior to opening, and that always makes me raise an eyebrow. like, why bother? let the beer speak for itself. i do like the Bandit glassware, ...

Re: Toronto Festival of Beer 2016 - Jul 22-24
I'm surprised anyone from BT would attend this fest. Unless tickets were free. Supporting TBS? Not me. Sorry. I got burned a couple times with mediocre beer festivals. Even went to one with free "media" tickets. Even with the free tickets, I could find enough beers I wanted to try to stay...

There were some fun people to chat with from the brewery last year. Really nice guys. I also love my goose island T-shirt I got from the event.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
i could and probably am way off on the changing recipes theory but whatever, it is what it is. limp puppet, octopus, thrust and couple others all tasted off/watered down. octopus tasted completely different. i swear it was a mosaic forward beer before, now it's 8 different hops and malts or whateve...
