Fuller's Brewer's Reserve #4

Just a heads up for those that may have missed this excellent barreled ale, it's still on LCBO shelves but for some reason it isn't listed in inventory under its proper name - keep an eye out next time you're cruising the gummint dairy bar.

I went to try it on tap at Imbibe, but they drained the keg in 2 days/ had a sample before but not adequate to form an opinion one way or the other. I hope it isn't as sweet as towelers are saying. Had some wet hop Nickelbrook instead and that hit the spot.

Spearhead Moroccan Brown Ale

Anyone have some first impressions of this?? Raisins, Dates, Figs, Cinnamon seem like a natural compliment to brown ale''s nutty flavor.

Seen this on tap yet?

Cruised by the new Castle location today. It appears that Harold has rented the old off track betting pub "Bettors" @ 2880 Weber east - just east of TJs and Wimpey’s. Bettors has finished moving their stuff to a new location but the old signage is still up. There is a small "Castle on...

Finally got a chance to drop in on Bill today at Imbibe – great location off the museum annex, across from the Walper house. Bill will make all Bar Towelers more than welcome. He shared a couple of vintage treasures with us and we had a decent chat about brew styles. – Bill knows his stuff. Sampled ...

A good time had by all, good beer, good chat with fellow foamheads ( great to meet you Greg , Cratez and other fellow bartowelers). Actually met a local who enjoyed Glatt Bros. chili beer. Adil, tap jocky supreme and brewing conspiritor was setting the tap handles on fire. Milos - congrats on a top ...

I enjoyed the Pilsner. I also liked the Baltic although it was a just tad thin for the style but delicious, the Cascadian IPA was roasty upfront but had a piecing lingering bitterness, Winter warmer was a nice change of pace, well layerd flavors. A decent representation of this brewer's diversity. T...

So this is back and got a glowing review in The Grid this week. Anyone tried it yet this year? I have.....and I put a couple more in the beer cellar. It seems pretty much as I remember it _ great RIS flavors bathed in a light smoke wrapper. However this year I noticed something that is either new o...

Flying Monkeys "Effinguud" Milk Stout

As a rule, I never post a review of a beer I’ve only sampled once - But I'm making an exception in this case because I want to accomplish 2 things – 1) I want the brewer to know how good this beer was (if he already doesn’t know) - that either by chance or design he hit the money button with this br...

Congrats Peter, Adil, Milos and all the other skilled FMB brewers - just as a casual assessment, I'd say this tasting/showcase was a ripping success. It succeeded on so many levels - It mobilized an army of craft beer lovers with nothing more than some social media posts - concrete evidence there is...

i had 3 at Jack Astors one fine evening, worst headache ever the next day! Tell tale sign of the presense of complex sugars....LME?...dextrose syrup? Both can give a nasty sharp edge to beer ...really noticable if not served really cold....and of course give you the post party pain in the mellon :w...

I tried a couple of the barking rodent lager in cans from the Gummint dairy bar - it tasted like green beer. as it warmed it had a lot of rough edges, It tasted like it was less than a week in the conditioning tank. And there is a nasty something in there that hits as the brew warms. Whatever, I spe...
