Tapsucker wrote: Mon Apr 24, 2023 9:24 pmAs for a bit of piney, I would also suggest Fat Tug from Howe Sound. It shows up here in Ontario consistently and is a pretty good example of what you are looking for.
Fat Tug is from Driftwood, but it is definitely a great example of a piney west coast IPA.

Re: Talk or Action?

LCBO is doubling down but with more Convenience Outlets which isn't a new program at all. http://www.doingbusinesswithlcbo.com/sdre/AgencyStores/GeneralProgramInformation.shtml people living in major cities like Toronto, Hamilton, Niagara, Ottawa, Kitchener, etc. are not gonna notice anything excep...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Wow! Regarding the Founders issue...while I don’t generally like to get involved in these type of discussions on a beer page (it’s one of the reasons I come here), I will say this: judging companies and making purchasing decisions on moral/ethical grounds can be a very slippery slope. Own any Apple...

My mother's side of the family is from the Grand Rapids area. Based on my 32 years of experience with and interaction amongst the people who live there, the idea of casual racism being tolerated in the workplace is not even remotely difficult to take at face value. Michigan is basically Arkansas wit...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Just read an article about that Founders controversy. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I think maybe I'm just going to stop buying American beer for a while. They need to get their shit together down there and I don't want my money supporting racists. Or people who may have voted for a racist. Maybe I'...

Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release

Schneider's Tap 6 Aventinus is also an exquisite beer, but I just love their eisbock. You're right in that it's certainly not something I'd need a case of. Last time around I only bought three or four bottles (and ended up trading one). Something as rich as that eisbock should be saved for an import...

9 bucks for that eisbock is fair. It was ridiculously cheap the last time it showed up here. I'm just glad it finally came back because nothing else really compares; just an exquisite beer top to bottom.

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I've still got a bunch of bottles of CBS from last year's release. How long of a shelf life do those babies have anyways? I don't think long cellar stints are recommended for CBS (or KBS for that matter). For example, the best before date on the KBS that was on shelves here in Ontario earlier this ...

Re: Collective Arts

Finally tried No. 6 tonight; it wasn't great, which sadly makes it the worst in their IPA series by default. OK, in all fairness, I never got to try No.1, but loved all of the others to varying degrees. One can of #6 would've been enough for me (especially at $5 per), but I bought a pair. So I guess...

that beer is so good
Ditto. I don't even blink at the 5 bucks a bottle. Considerably better than the Kriek des Jacobins that was here earlier this year.

don't want to derail but has anybody tried Autumn Ale by Royal City? potato beer! taste more pumpkin than pumpkin beers. https://untappd.com/b/royal-city-brewing-autumn-ale/1273477 Yep, I picked that one up at the brewery in Guelph probably 2 years ago now. Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release

I'm sure it's true in cases. Although many claim they taste pumpkin in St. Ambroise Citrouille though it has none. This may have been true in the past, but I am (quite coincidentally) drinking a can of St. Ambroise Citrouille at this very moment which seems to disagree. Ingredients: Water, malted b...

I should be able to help you out with Stonepicker. I live nearby and have been planning to go there in the near future. Unfortunately I can't do an IP trade so it'd have to be via mail.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Did the Across the Nation packs over the last week and a bit. This whole project is like Beer Camp if the Kamp Krusty councilors were put in charge of brewing. The fast-fading Torque collab was my favourite of the bunch while at least 3 of these got poured down the drain. I won't stand idly by whil...
