When I'm stateside I often have Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on tap, but I don't think I've ever actually bought it here (it has been in BC for a bit). I have drank a fair bit of Torpedo though... it's right up there with Fat Tug, and it's more consistent. Their rep from Seattle was in town last year. He ...

I'm really surprised it has taken this long for someone to mention it on a forum (at least I haven't seen it). They moved production to the bigger brewery about a year ago, and instantly I noticed the difference. Now I'm not saying that they've gone all macro and are cutting corners, but I did wonde...

What recipe are you going with?
I've been thinking about the BYO oct 2013 recipe here:

Also, there's an interesting interview here:

I think that statement was to simply put his own views in context, not to derail the whole thread.Ale's What Cures Ya wrote: Craft beer has jumped the shark for me in general though.
Craft beer has definitely not jumped the shark. Sure the revolution became trendy, but this segment continues to evolve.

Imagine the beer selection in the 5 closest TBS to Cool! I was thinking this very thing yesterday! The 5 stores around Cool will be the best selection in the province! For Cool, I would hope that 'local' would basically include the entire GTA. Otherwise, why not just buy from the brewery (unless it...

I totally pay attention to the number rating. I'll still buy some local stuff regardless of the rating, simply because I like to support the locals. That said, I really try not to waste money on mediocre beer. I can brew that at home (and often better)! As for the written reviews, I've used the &quo...

Sidebar: I will say that I do not rate Ontario (and most other) beers due to working in the industry. I just think if you work in the industry (making, selling, serving, retailing) it's not appropriate to do so. I've always wondered why you don't. Now I know, and I think that's a fair practice. It'...

I had the feeling there are less experienced users on Untappd as well, and the ratings spread does indeed seem smaller. That said, I looked at 48 brews from the Advent boxes last year, and the averages were actually on-par: http://www.bartowel.com/beer-advent-calendars/ I've always went to BA for &q...

Have BA and RB jumped the shark?
I started to loose interest in reviewing a while ago... But A bunch of locals are on untappd, so I started on there... it has sorta got me back into it. I just reviewed a beer that had 27 check ins, but nothing on BA or RB yet! I still think both sites are valuable, but I wonder if they might contin...
