I remember when Dos Equis Amber Lager was kegged by Labatt, and I actually liked drinking it at the local Mexican restaurant in London.

I've never had it in Mexico, but by the time the bottles arrived here they just weren't very good.

I've been fighting a sinus cold, so I haven't had much either.

Had a Double Mountain Fa La la la la which reminded me of Arrogant Bastard, so I cracked on of those (now in BC). The Bastard is good, but not as good as the DMFLLLL.

Yeah, I had a 6 month old Orval for thanksgiving and it was phenomenal... Probably do a repeat. But saisons and other belgian brews are also a great choice... Lifts the grease from the turkey and pairs well with the spices.

I've got to admit, with Gary's taste and experience, I've kinda wondered why he hasn't homebrewed (though I think he has commented before).

Even just 1 gallon batches using extract and grain has endless possibilities!

That was the Hofbräuhaus Urbock they served vom fass, during the 2006 Starkbierfest. I was certainly surprised to see 1L pours of doppelbock, but this one was only 7.2%. People were sitting outside a few places in March (so the beer wasn't too warm), but it was more common at the cafes where they of...

10 years ago today I did my first mash! I remember the brew day was almost 12 hrs long by the time I filtered 7 gallons with a Brita and got to work. I was obsessed with sanitation as well, and I guess it payed off... I managed to save a couple bottles, and now 10 years later, this Belgian Dubbel st...

I've been a huge fan of unibroue since around 1996... And I have to give them some credit for getting me into good beer. I think I noticed a bit of a change around 2008, when their brews seemed to have a bit more yeast character. I wasn't sure if it was the new brewer, or new ownership (bigger batch...

Fat man red suit big sack. So far this craft beer advent calendar has been a real step up from previous years (with the exception of a UK ESB that went off). Yesterday it was an (intentionally) sour Krampus from Italy, which was really great, but unfortunately seemed to get many drain pours. Yeah. ...

Tree brewing's new beer institute is doing 24 casks of Christmas, with a new cask every day. So far I've made it to the first three, but when the advent calendars get started and our homebrew exchange kicks in, it is going to be hard to keep up!
