Re: Technical question about gut bacteria...

I want to warn you that I do not know what I'm talking about but.... I think gut bacteria mostly lives in a pH environment that is too acidic for most conventional strains. I think things with Brett or lacto are your best bet. Particularly anything wild fermented, because then you're not getting a b...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Great lakes lake effect. Hard to believe this has been around for almost 7 years! Still a great IPA, but it doesn't stand above the crowd quite like it used to. Definitely something I always get when I can get it fresh. Uerige Alt. Simply put, the best beer of the style. I think this was brewed Augu...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Blueberry, sour & cocoa? That sounds awful.

But it's a good brewery so I guess I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Someone please try one and report back!

Re: Online order problems...

I strongly object to DAB being on a list with No Name beer. DAB is very good, imo. I've done loads of online orders with a decent success rate. I think I've only ever had two messed up orders. One where the wrong box had my name on it, but they had the right one in the store so it wasn't a big deal....

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)

It's a coffee bean and apricot pit IS (pretty sure it's normally called a stout despite what the LCBO says)

I find that interesting. Apricot pits? Like, not the fruit?

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

yeah, Moosehead isn't anything to write home to Mom about. distribution of the Small Batch series doesn't seem so great. Fixed Gear Brewing Cherry Training Wheels also a new listing https://www.lcbo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/en/lcbo/dry-hopped-sour-16022061179/fixed-gear-brewing-cherry-training...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Nothing about Moosehead, but I can't imagine doing anything other than regretting a peppermint IPA.

Maybe it's amazing? Someone buy one and let me know :P

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I'm surprised it took as long as it did. It felt like an obvious next step once they got their production brewery up and running. They must move an incredible volume without using channels like the LCBO or TBS.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I've had good cans, but none held a candle to the lone pint I had from a keg. Man that was tasty.

Makes me suspect the kegs have been refrigerated and the cans, or at least the cans I got, were not.

Re: FoBaB

I haven't been in a few years, but I don't think it changes much from year to year so this is probably all still valid: Expect an impossible assortment of incredible beer. Like, such a volume and variety that prioritizing or trying everything you want is impossible. They'll give you a little book at...

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)

I don't think so -- it has to be brewed on-site for them to sell it directly out of their facility. If a distributor could simply open up a retail storefront (which is what you are suggesting they are doing), then surely Keep 6, R&R and all of our other excellent distributors would be doing so ...
