Re: What're you drinking right now?

I haven't managed to keep a vintage ale longer than a year in a while. I did a three year vertical way back when and didn't find much benefit to the aging, so there isn't much incentive for me. I hope this year's is better than Jase's experience. It's such a great style and not one we get that often...

Re: lcboapi.com and drinkvine.com

Every now and then I'll pop on the LCBO site to check what online exclusives there are. My biggest gripe is there's no way to just see all the beer. You either have to filter it down at least one level (ie ale or lager) or you get all the beer and all the Sake for some reason.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I've always thought the Blau and Rochefort 10 are the best of the quads.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I had their Dunkel later tonight, also very good. I think I prefer the Oktoberfest, but I'll probably have to order both again just to be sure.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I'm having a Royal City Oktoberfest, which is delightful. I love fall beers.

Re: Wet Hopped Ales?

Royal City have their Community Brew out, which is made from fresh hops grown by random people around the city: https://royalcitybrew.ca/collections/20 ... unity-brew

I have no way to know, but I speculate that they would top that up with other hops to make the final beer.

Grabbed a couple cans, but haven’t tried it yet.

Thanks for that! I've been wanting a fresh hop and thought I might miss out this year. Just put in an order.

Re: Wellington

I put in an order with Wellington this week. They had the most stuff I wanted to try of the local Guelph Brewers and this thread was on my mind. So far I've tried their Helles (good, just what you'd expect) and the kviek IPA collab they did with Cameron's (also good, real peach/mango vibe) and I'm h...

Red Circle Brewing & Coffee

Since moving to Guelph I've started seeing this brewery on taps here and there. Anyone know them? Beer good? Is the coffee good? I happen to be out of both of those things right now, so I'm thing of giving them a shot.

Re: Wellington

They've done a bunch of work with the Escarpment Labs guys, who are also in Guelph. I think that probably helped raise their bar a little.

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

2010 Echo de Lynch Bages. This is very nice right now. Big time pencil shavings, a good but if acidity and nicely balanced, moderate depth/body. Feels very traditional Bordeaux.

This is also one of the first wines I cellared, it's awfully satisfying to finally reap the rewards.

Re: Spending/Drinking More or Less on Beer during Pandemic?

I'm kinda alternating between drinking more and drinking less. I find when I work all day at home for some reason I'm more inclined to have a couple in the evening. So I do that for a bit, then stop entirely for a bit, then start again. It'll be interesting what happens when the weather cools off, b...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I left Leslieville a little over a year ago. I liked Saulter Street a lot; the staff, the vibe, the clientelle. It was a lot of fun to bring my toddler and wife in and just sit around for a bit and sip some beers with locals. It's about as unpretentious a spot as you can find. That said, the beer wa...
