my biggest question (which i couldn't find answered anywhere on the CBA website or when I asked them directly on twitter) was how the decision is made for brewery of the year. generally if you're doing things BJCP style, brewer of the year is whoever gets the most medals, but that definitely isn't ...

Boiling homebrew would evaporate the alcohol and the product might be acceptable, but how would you know how much alcohol you evaporated? I searched online and found a few recipes that sound alright. One reference suggested heating on the stove or in the oven to the boiling point of ethyl alcohol (...

Has anyone ever tried to make a non-alcoholic homebrew? I've been thinking about this same subject for when/if I have a child at some point. If you boiled after the ferment instead of before, then cool, add some more yeast and prime as usual I wonder how well that would work. Maybe you'd do a shorte...

Are there any tell-tale signs that let one can know that the yeast can't be re-pitched? Unfortunately the only way to know for sure is to check the viability under a microscope. One tell-tale sign is a sluggish fermentation that slows towards the end or never fully reaches your target final gravity...

The Steam Whistle yeast is coming from a brewery in Hungary. A modern day and slightly more fun version of such a process diagram is found on their site here http://www.steamwhistle.ca/fun/comic-vol2a.pdf

Thanks for the great suggestions! I've thrown all my original ideas out the window in favour of: 1. Creemore UrBock 2. Hoptical Illusion 3. GL Pumpkin I love the weissbier upside down pour, but unfortunately I'm only doing small samples. Doesn't mean I won't be pouring a few for myself like that lat...

Pick 3 beers for a tasting
I'm running an informal beer tasting for about 20 people on Sat. Most of them know nothing about beer and some of them downright don't like the stuff.
