Re: General Ontario Brewery Discussion

I ordered last week before the free shipping and regret nothing.

Paper Salesman is on that Jutsu level; really great APA.

Sun-split was great too.

The Hoppy Hefe was good.

The Belgian IPA was more Vermont IPA with minimal Belgian yeast impact and I liked that; super juicy.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

During my lunch break (when I normally hit the gym) I went over to Ossington from downtown. I got there at ~12:30 and there was no line and plenty of Beer.

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

Octopus and Robohop are superior this year compared to last. Specifically Octopus, which seems to have a much fuller mouthfeel reminiscent of a beer brewed with oats. Really, really enjoying the Octopus this year. Agree with you on Octopus. It's markedly better this year. I tried Robo on tap at Bar...

Re: Beer Cellars

Great thread. Like most here, I "cellar" typical Trappist ales, imperial stouts, and high ABV/bottle conditioned releases. I've got a hand full of R10s approaching 4 years old, and a few ABT12 close to 3 that I was considering opening this winter, but I may hold a few back for a number of ...

Re: King Taps - First Canadian Place

Maybe this is going to take over the old Vertical restaurant space that O&B closed this past spring. It'll be nice to have something connected to the PATH for post-work beers instead of the "Duke" spots.

Re: Keep6 Imports opens online bottle shop

I really love this service.

I picked up a case of Dulcis Succubus in December and just placed my second order for a case of Gose Gone Wild and a DDC Rosee D'hibiscus this morning.

Hopefully there will be a constant stream of interesting new beers added in the months ahead.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Lots of weird reaction to the SN release in here.

It's $2.50 per bottle. Buy 1 and let your palate tell you if it's a 1.5 month old bottle of Pale Ale or a 15 month old bottle of Pale Ale. There's not a lot of risk involved.

Just picked up a case of Thrust at my local LCBO in downtown Toronto.

A very nice surprise for the weather we're supposed to have this weekend (especially considering it's not listed on the website yet).

Currently drinking side-by-side drams of Lagavulin 12 y/o and Laphroaig Cairdeas Origins. I've been wanting to get the Lagavulin 12 y/o but noticed it's not at the LCBO anymore. Yeah it shows up once a year but there hasn't been a huge allocation to Ontario in recent years. When it's in stock grab ...

I'm way more into whisky than I am into beer (78 bottles in my collection; 35 open), and the Laphroaig QC at $60 is a great value in Ontario. There aren't many bourbons or single malts readily available at a lower price in Ontario that I'd rather drink (maybe Four Roses Single Barrel? Rittenhouse Ry...

The QC is much peatier than the Talisker 10. It's young and brash, with lots of peat and smoke but also sweet vanilla, whereas the Talisker is mildly peated with a coastal salinity.

If you like the Talisker you'll probably enjoy the Laphroaig.

I picked up two bottles for my bunker.

I have 2 early admission tickets to Session 3 (Saturday night, 7PM to 1AM) that I'd like to trade for 2 Session 1 tickets (Friday night, 7PM to midnight) if anyone is looking to switch times. Due to some unforeseen scheduling conflicts, we won't be able to attend on Saturday night. PM me or tweet at...

I drank the Suduri this afternoon. It's an alright saison; the pepper helps to balance out the sweetness from the icewine barrels. Probably not worth the price on a comparative basis, but I don't feel robbed. The presentation was really nice and didn't need the extra wrapping paper which is pretty s...
