We're doing a "12 ales of Christmas" feature at the UNOB. Would some kind soul please volunteer to review this for us? We'll put your face on the site and everything! :)

The liquor laws are a real mess in Canada, aren't they? Should be standardised.

Canadian beer of the month?

Does anybody know of a Canadian beer of the month club-style organisation?

Obviously it's a legal question and I will need to seek professional opinions, but I know there's a lot of brewers on this forum who might have had experience.

I am quite serious. I want to organise a beer fest in the Montreal region and it would be a great shame if it were limited to simply QC beer.

This is damn good news. I know the price seems crazy, but Brooklyn Lager is awesome. WAY better than Stella. Does anybody know a specialist keg importer I could talk to? I had no idea DT was available here, let alone in kegs!

You can still find occasional old stock of Unibroue stuff, but many of the lines have been removed from their website. Apple and Raspberry Ephemere didn't make the cut, so you're probably drinking old dusty stuff if you buy it now.

Legality of Canadian beers sold out of province?

Hi guys, finally back after a week or so at the grindstone of life... Was just reading a few of your reviews of ON beer and I wondered whether it's legal for a beer seller here in Quebec to purchase and resell beer from, say, Ontario? What's the legality? Is it like the US, where brewers need a lice...

Hurley's is a great place to drink. The college nights you talk about are most likely Americans who get bus tours up to Canada to be able to legally drink under the age of 21. Crescent Street can be a pretty dangerous place later in the evening when they're further along on their pub crawls.

Hi Tim,

Nice to see you on the forum. Do you do any other organics? I'm collecting a list for the UNOB site.

Cheers!

It's funny. I'm a British ex-pat and I took pubs in the UK for granted. Now over here in Canada it's a kind of holy grail to build a British pub! I wouldn't say EVERY town has a great pub, but most British counties have several. And there's all kinds of cancers in that industry; chain pubs, develope...

Thanks for all your replies.

I hadn't realised that Unibroue had that history. It must be pretty hard for companies to keep up with the changing rules on what is or is not organic.

Well I for one enjoy a good windup. My original point about TB was, I had zero expectations for it and it wasn't THAT bad. There's an actual REAL bear in Hudson at the moment. They managed to shoot it, wound it but have not confirmed the kill. (It ran after some joggers the other day and they only e...

You mean ANOTHER way they're reducing the cancer rate among the Quebecois??? At this rate, they WILL survive long enough to finally kick out the Anglos.

In Quebec they enjoy "smoked meat sandwiches", which might put me in the mood... I am open about trying it, just as I am any beer. Bit like a rollercoaster, the hard part is getting on board in the first place. I hope!
