Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Re: Cask Days 2015

that's why most breweries probably pre-carbonate and just rack to casks. more controlled variables, less risk of gushers. If that is what is being done, it is disappointing as that is not cask beer. Might as well serve it from an amphora. Just my opinion though. As mentioned, cask conditioning is n...

Great Canadian Homebrew Conference 2015

The Great Canadian Homebrew Conference for 2015 will be hosted at Lansdowne Brewery on Saturday, June 20, 2015 (303 Lansdowne Ave, Toronto). Doors open at 10:30. This years conference will be a bit different than past conferences as all beer served will have been brewed by homebrewers. We have sever...

I'd love to see anything else about this. Links to the documents rather than just hearsay and unnamed sources. The AGCO doesn't care if you are zoned manufacturing, they don't care about zoning at all. Zoning is what the city cares about and the issue is there is no mechanism in the current zoning ...

Don Peat's suddenly tweeting that Gord Perks and Mike Layton want a craft beer and cullinary "trail". hah. Gord Perks stopped new bars/restos from opening in Parkdale so people could "walk out and buy lightbulbs". illogical. i've tweeted to both Layton and Perks about the obstac...

I imagine this is late, but Noble Hop on Dundas has thermometers. Also, most grocery stores should have digital or analog ones that will be close enough for your needs. I've picked up a few $10 ones at Loblaws.

So I am curious what people think about this. If you are Elysian and you want to sell, who could you sell to other than someone huge like A-B (assuming you don't have family or employees who could take over)? Not sure how much they sold for but for reference Goose Island sold for around 40 million ...

But to answer the first question, I really hope we can brew! As someone who has done this, don't be stupid enough (I was) to tell the city what you are doing or else you won't be brewing until you get cleared by the committee of adjustment and an army of building inspectors. Looking forward to tryi...

I would say that is correct, but won't they have to wait until they are brewing on site to sell their own growlers?

sassafrass is available at all herb stores on the danforth. its carcinogenic properties were exaggerated. I've always felt that the carcinogenic properties were exaggerated, but as I understand it it is still not permitted in commercial versions of root beer. Could be wrong though. The stuff availa...

I've tried a couple times, but you need to remove from your mind the taste of A&W or Hires as the epitome of root beer. All recipes I've tried are good, but because they don't use a dark caramel syrup and usually aren't vanilla heavy don't look or taste like commercial root beer, not that this i...

Eric, the CBAs use the Brewer's Association style definitions. BJCP is not the only style guide out there.

2. local breweries - i didn't have one GLB beer and there were only 2 Bellwoods beer on cask. Amsterdam had only 3, i believe. kind of thought/expected to be blown out of the water quantity-wise on the local stuff. Personally, I'll take quality over quantity. Amsterdam's Full City Double Tempest wa...
