Re: lcboapi.com and drinkvine.com

Let me start by saying I use Drinkvine all the time and would be disappointed to see it go. You've built a phenomenal tool which has helped me source the beers I really want extremely easily. That said, family changes everything. When we started Toronto Beer Week in 2010, I had no kids. When the dec...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Get 2 bottles and it’s equal to less than $10 for a 660ml bottle of 12% imp stout, compared to $12 for 500ml of Kentucky bastard. Both equally rated on ratebeer. But this way it’s easier to drink half and still have the other half sealed. Edit: can’t wait to try the lickinghole heir apparent, almos...

Re: Collective Arts

Seem to be reading/experiencing more and more inconsistency and quality issues with CA these last couple months. Are they maybe stretching themselves a bit thin?? I agree that they seem to be having inconsistency issues lately. I regularly buy LITC but have found it to be basically a different beer...

Re: Anyone Brewing Something Special for the Holiday's?

Great lakes makes a winter ale. Nickel Brook has Cuvee, which I don't think it's really a Christmas beer but they normally release it over the holidays, I think. Black Oak releases Nutcracker (cinnamon) Porter every year. Plus I'm sure there will be lots of one offs and such if you dig around. Yep ...

Anyone Brewing Something Special for the Holiday's?

I'm sometimes a sucker for novelty and last year I picked up a 12 beers of Christmas pack from Lake Wilcox (surprisingly good) and Whitewater Brewing (Ho ho hum). The two craft beer advent calendars I've seen advertised have already closed for ordering, so my question is whether any Ontario brewers ...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Double Tempest Day is November 17, so I don't see why they wouldn't have it as singles by then. Unfortunately it doesn't look likely, I was digging through comments on their IG and they said it'll only be in the mix pack this time. So it seems the mixed pack is : starke Pilsner;boneshaker;space inv...

There are going to be too many of these in my fridge soon.

Agree on all points. I really dig this beer, and its a good alternative to Jutsu at (I think) $1.50 less for the same amount.

Re: Collective Arts

I do see how everything is now a sour / hopped sour / hopped fruited sour / Imperial dry hopped fruited wine barrel sour, etc. but I actually don't mind a lot of it. There are some great brews coming out of this movement. And despite these reinventions at least the Vermont IPA style is still pretty...

Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release

Speak of Xmas beers, the best of a lifetime? Figgy Puddin' at KBC. I happened by the KBC pub at exactly the right time, and they handed me a free PINT of this massive, spicy-dark-black-dried-fruits ale. None of these stupid little glasses, a full pint of Figgy goodness. Hard to beat that one. I hea...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

It sounds like there's a lot of variation in the No 6 IPA because I certainly didn't get the flavour profile that cratez described. The one I drank last night reminded me of a dry Bellwoods IPA with a bit of a tang to it. Hard to discern much peach, and I've been working my way through a basket of n...

Re: Witchstock 2018

Ultimately this will come down to basic economics; either enough people will find it worth it at the price point to justify the festival or they won't. I'm not getting hugely invested either way. If I though they were misadvertising the festival, I could see people being angry at them, but that jus...

Re: Riverhead Brewing Co. - Kingston

I echo Belgian's comments on Red House. Awesome vibe, okay taplist, plus a cask (Nickelbrook last weekend).

I also echo the previous poster's comments on KBC. The taplist would put in in the top 20 Toronto bars. I mean they had Bellwoods and Godspeed on amongst a host of interesting options.
