Re: Recruiting back to the Bar Towel

LOL, great timing. I hadn't logged in for a long time. My life has changed a lot since I was an active member here. My wife passed away and I found myself raising my daughter alone. The first thing I did was move out of the city. My beer drinking has dropped off substantially too. But on a beautiful...

Anyone have any idea the future of this place? It sure is a sweet little spot.

Re: Toronto Beer Tours

I've done the Steamwhistle tour twice. The first time the guide had lots of info on the building and its significance in Toronto's history as well as about the company and beer but the second time was only about the brewing process which is interesting but left so much of the Roundhouse story out. E...

Re: Toronto Beer Tours

Thanks for the feedback. I think we are looking for a walking tour rather than a brewery tour so the Beer Makes History Better tour sounds pretty good. I looked at a bunch of reviews and most say the guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic which really make the difference in this sort of thing. It ...

Toronto Beer Tours

Has anyone got some experience with any of the beer tours offered in the Toronto area? My brother in law has a milestone birthday coming up and we were thinking of bringing a gang in to the city for a beer tour. There are quite a few different tours available with a quick search so I thought asking ...

I lived in Alberta when I was younger. At the time I worked at a big hotel in Banff and everyone had erratic shifts. We would often close out the bar and grab a case to take back to someone's place to keep the party going. Sure it cost a bit more than buying a case at the store but it was alot cheap...

So the convenience stores have been lobbying for this for decades but when it finally happens they are excluded in favour of the big grocery chains. the Weston family's worth $9 billion. someone should dig up how much they've donated to the Ontario Liberals or, in the very least, how many chairs th...

Anyone know if the petrus aged pale ale has a best before on it? Could this beer be cellared for a while? Mine is November 12, 2016, I think. Mine has the same date on it. I have no idea how time will affect this. I had one last night. I may have just become a fan of sours. I like to try new stuff ...

Trou de Diable Punkrauch. Clearance at Crossroads. An interesting beer. I don't have much experience with smoked beers so wasn't really sure what to expect. The only other I have tried tasted like what I imagine an ashtray would. The smoke is present in this but not overwhelming. Lots of dried fruit...

I used the live chat function on the LCBO website a couple weeks back to ask about this. I was contacted back by no less than three different people and finally yesterday by the store manager. Apparently they made a mistake and confused this with another product. The original sign has been replaced ...

I guess it is all a matter of opinion. A 74% local made brew that I can get fresh off the shelf for a couple of bucks is at least as valuable to me as a 90% rarity that I must make a big effort to procure and pay double for. False dichotomy. What about the 90's made in Ontario that can be sourced w...

I can see it coming. All the Wynne government is going to do is introduce a fee/tax/monopoly service charge to extract more money from the Beer Store. Nothing else is going to change. The big brewer's monopoly is going to be legitimized (hey, we are paying for it!). Face it. Except for a few of us ...
