Re: So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

The metric that sticks out for me is this: If you scale up the price per ml on a $3.75 355ml can to its 473ml equivalent that's $5 a can. I understand where you're coming from, at first glance the price does seem to be expensive. But if you're interested in scaling prices to other formats, try 500m...

Re: Amsterdam Barrel House

They can't have a bottle shop there under Ontario's current liquor laws. Only two bottle shops per manufacturer. i dropped by yesterday. not sure if i misunderstood a tweet, but i wanted to grab some bottles of the barleywine. i thought that they had a small brewhouse at the barrel house, so assumed...

Re: Former Dieu du Ciel brewmaster opening east Toronto brew pub

The location is insanely great for me, I can even walk the 5kms to this place. I still don't know were the heck to park at Left Field, though! Is it nice in there? Re. Left Field parking. There is legal/signed parking at the bottom of Wagstaff along the Thomson Grocers building. The hours are M-F 5...

Re: Beer Can Shortage

It's been on the minds of almost every Ontario brewery. Plus, new breweries looking to get into canning have also been affected. You may have noticed a few cans that are normally printed had to switch to a label or shrink sleeve temporarily because all they could get a hold of were silver bullets.

Re: Best Bottle Shops

We also made a brew finder on the website so you can see LCBO's or bars/restaurants near you that carry Left Field. http://www.leftfieldbrewery.ca/brew-finder Sorry to hijack the thread. Shoutouts to the Rainhard, Indie and Burdock bottle shops. Looking forward to the others that are popping up as w...

Your're right, that's why they are trying to update the standards. "The proposed changes to the beer standards aim to: - clarify the definition of beer, - define the ingredients that can be added to beer, - repeal the standard for ale, stout, porter or malt liquor ; and, - remove the food addit...

Anyone know about the 0.5% from "flavourings" - how would this affect barrel aged beers? Are Imperial stouts and barleywines going to run afoul of the sugar content rules? Yes. 4% sugar is about 1.016 FG, which is lower than most high ABV beers finish. Sweet stout, barleywine, imperial st...

Leslieville instead of Beaches? If it's east of the DVP it's pretty much beaches to me... ;) Funny and yet sadly true! People are used to thinking of Beaches/Leslieville and areas adjacent as sort of connected - 'Steps to lake, Queen St. amenities bla bla bla.' Yes how very many steps... Gerr/Green...

Thanks for your comments Mark. Cambridge? The article says you currently produce at Barley Days. The Globe needs to spend a bit more on fact checkers, I have a feeling. We launched in april 2013 by brewing out of Grand River. Early in 2014 we needed to increase capacity but GR didn't have the room,...

I'm all for Spiegelau glasses. Best glassware ever. They have a craft beer pack that has a tulip, weissebeir, and pint. You can get them at The Bay, I think, and other places. I had never used a Teku glass until yesterday at the OCB conference and it's a new favourite. The Spiegelau stemmed pilsner...

We're definitely in Leslieville, but our location does tend to confuse people.... even the author of the article. http://www.torontoneighbourhoods.net/media2/maps/map_53.gif Our beer will definitely change when we bring it all in house, but hopefully it's for the better. As an example, Cambridge wat...
