Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I have seen some of the chatter about Timothy Taylor and I have to admit I didn't realize it had such a reputation. I’d completely agree with this statement. A pint of Landlord on cask is maybe the most enjoyable Beer I’ve ever drank. They really are few and far between being made here, and even de...

Re: Tennessee Tavern

Yup, part of the Grant Van Gameren empire. I've been numerous times and concur with your assessment, as it has probably (outside of Pharmacy) the best beer selection in Parkdale. It's not as easy to find good and different craft choices in Parkdale as it used to be. The Rhino (based on my last visit...

The Six Brewing

Has anybody checked this place out: https://www.thesixbrewingco.com/ ? Saw it on F'book, but nobody said much about the beer. They've taken some heat for not pouring 20 oz, and calling their 16 oz pours "standard."
Looks like a nice place though.

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...

Sawdust City had a glorious tripel (11% but no boozy taste at all) called 11.05. I picked up some cans at their brewery in May, no idea if it's still in stock but damn, it was delicious.

I went by it today on the King car and the hoardings are down, and it looked like people were sitting at the (a) bar.

Neustadt still makes their Big Dog Porter, though it's not easy to find.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

In fairness, the hoopla was never about the blonde or big wheel. It was about beers like (double) tempest, sour cherry IS and deWallen. They were making those 3-4 years ago when the styles were a lot rarer. They also had interesting one off releases. Anyone remember Lady Stav and Goedenmorgen? Exac...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Revisited a few older favourties (and not so favourites) over the past couple days with a friend who came back from Ohio who's new to this whole "weird beer thing", roughly in order of how much I enjoyed them (or not): DDC Aphrodite Great Lakes Eliot Ness Amsterdam Cruiser DDC Equinoxe Pr...

Re: Murphy's Law, Queen East & Kingston Road

It's reportedly re-opening today at 6pm. A beer list is up online. It looks like the advertised "24 craft taps" include Guinness, Bud Light, Rolling Rock, Stella and Keith's although there is the promise of an unspecified number of "rotating seasonal taps" in addition to the 24 ...

I was riding by on the streetcar the other day and it looks like they are now open. A quick peek at their fleecebook page makes it look like their is promise of something better than the usual corporate pub. Here's hoping. Yes, you're right - I saw their page on Facebook and the snapshot of their l...

Dominion Hotel

Sadly, it looks like the venerable Dominion at Queen and Sumach, has fallen into the hands of the Fabconcepts chain. It wasn't the greatest bar but it had great bones and they were making a concerted effort to have a decent micro selection in the last years before it closed. They always supported li...

Wellington Imperial Russian Stout 4 x 341 mL LCBO 296269 I hope it is going to remain available in single tallboys. I like their IRS, but at no point have I ever needed/wanted four of them at once, and my refrigerator real estate is limited. When the LCBO switches from singles to four-packs, I tend...

Awesome. Looking forward to visiting soon. What is the situation re TVs? Normally wouldn't care but I'm looking for a place downtown to watch one of the Jays' games in Texas over the weekend and this might just be the ticket. Hoping to avoid Loose Moose and its ilk. But original BH is pretty much a...

Re: Muddy York and Rainhard tap takeover @lansdowne brewery Aug 29th.

I dropped in Saturday evening and it was packed. Had a Rainhard IPA that was excellent, and sampled the Imp Stout which was also really good. Nice to see the bar open finally.
