Re: 2023 LCBO Summer Release
Still no sign of Boon. Should I be worried? I saw the Boon Kriek in the Yonge/ Wellesley (?) store two weeks ago. LCBO app/website leaves much to be desired. Brett-Elle (unfruited geuze from Lambiek Fabriek) seems to be in stores, too. Thanks, it's good to hear that it's actually here, but very dis...

Re: Anchor Brewing Ceases Operations
I remember having Anchor Steam, while I was on business in California, probably sometime in the early 2000s. It was very fresh, and delicious.
I did enjoy it here, occasionally, but it was never as good.
Haven't seen it here in ages. Very sad that they're shutting down.

Yes, that's what I took your reply to mean.
I completely missed the Armand and Gaston. I have to read more carefully. As it's not a brewery I'm familiar with, I totally missed that it was a gueuze.
I will definitely be giving that a try. Cheers!

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
I see the Jart-Elle Oude Kriek is available now, but at $11.95 for 375ml, it better be pretty damn good. Anyone had it, yet? Yes, I have had it. It was good, but if you want a strong cherry component, you will be disappointed. I think I could get into my displeasure for high prices, but it may be m...

Re: 2023 LCBO Summer Release
Great news about Boon! I bought 2 cases, last time, and only have 2 bottles left. I made the mistake of using 1/2 bottle in making ribs, and really enjoyed it, so have made a habit out of it. I'll be stocking up, again. Looking forward, however, to trying Lambiek Fabriek - Brett-Elle. Will have to d...

Re: Recruiting back to the Bar Towel
No word from Greg Clow? I see him on twitter.
What about Joey Capps, Dan-D-Man, Beer Kitten?
Would be great for Perry to stop by, too.
Same with Ken Woods. We don't seem to get Black Oak, locally, these days!

Hey Cass!
I do pop by, now and then. I guess I don't post all that often, though.
Hope you are well!

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Zundert 10 — Picked this one up as I've been neglecting quads. It's a pretty good effort from a Trappist I'd never heard of before. It seems like there's been a mini boom in Trappist breweries in the past 5-10 years. I remember when I could name them all! Speaking of which — where the HELL is Orval...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Saulter Street Riverside Copper Pilsner from brewery store, the can is souring just a few weeks after purchase so I dumped it out. The Sorachi hop Lager they have on tap right now is really nice though. This new Duvel Tripel Hop Cashmere Belgian IPA (9.5%) is very flavourful showing nice underlying...

Re: Grand River Brewing
Remember when Mill St. Tankhouse was actually pretty decent? Also, Sgt. Major. I remember this, well. It was still decent, IMHO, until they switched to 'Organic.' Definitely downhill after that. After I tried the first one, I bought most of the old recipe Tankhouse I could find, around town. As it ...

Re: Peter Lopaty
As mentioned in the other thread, I haven't been on the forum in a while, and was sad to read this news.
I bought a lot of great beer from Peter. Only had the pleasure of meeting him once, way back when, at the beer festival at Fort York.
May he RIP.

Still have my 1996-1997 Boon Oude Geuze. I had it when I joined this forum, with the intention of finding more. Will definitely be a special occasion when I open this one. Also: 1995 Sam Adams Triple Bock - was kind of lousy back then. Don't know if age will have made it drinkable. No expecting so. ...
